This guy makes me sick... his crimes against the Automotive world are bad enough but but to go advertising the destruction of a 1961 Cadillac as if it was something to be proud of is just sick!

For what it's worth the 1961 Cadillac is my second favorite finned classic car of all time behind the 1959 Buicks and ties with 1967 & 1969 for my favorite model year for Cadillacs ever!

The aftermath: A cruel destruction of a 1961 Caddy Edited by Sixty8panther

HAHAHAHAHA o wow that's funny! I like the spray-painted headlights the best. Though the roof "modification" really brings it all together!

Wanton destruction of any car annoys me (provided it's not a total POS worth less than a Klan member's opinion on race relations). Sell it, part it out, hell, give it to charity. Beating the crap out it and destroying it just makes no sense. <_<

Yeah somehow I always knew Croc was a sick F***. What kind of a car enthusiast laughs at this kind of a destruction of a car that belongs either in a climate controled garage or in a Museum? At least he could have parted the car out and made some money but instead he decided to be a d1ckhead. Why don't you put this in your sig. you twisted SOB. Perhaps God will have mercy on your soul. [/0.9% sarcasm]

In all due honestly, I know you wouldn't be as upset if this were, say, a Camry or Sonata.

hahahaha yes may God have mercy on my soul because I laughed at a beat up Cadillac. hahaha coming from the person who goes to demolition derby tournaments regularly...seriously Sixty8...think of all the car parts that could have been saved! You may not use classics, but others do! You support demo derbying! All those cars whose parts can be restored, used to preserve others...instead, just mindlessly wasted on a bunch of hicks running into each other! Heh I love the smell of hypocrisy in the late evening!

It's sad what he did to the '61, but the rest of his Cadillac collection is actually pretty nice.  He even has a '94 Roadmaster Estate.

[post="49976"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

Yeah, Sixty8, did you even look at the rest of the site?

Joe's Cadillacs

The guy's owned fifteen - FIFTEEN - Cadillacs from classics to new models, some of which he's fixed up or restored himself.

You really need to watch what kind of people you call assholes, sarcasm or not, 'cause in this case, the pot called the kettle something it shouldn't have...

Let's take a gander at the cars I've sent off to the junkyard. not one of them was drivable or worth even $50 when they got towed away...

1990 Ford Probe (4-banger, automatic)

Posted Image

1993 Ford Escort (5-speed, SOHC-4)

Posted Image

1990 Mazda 626 sedan (4-cylinder, automatic 280,000 miles)

1994 Mercury Topaz (4-cylinder, automatic)

1993 Buick LeSabre (rusted out rocker panels, gas tank, fuel lines & brake lines)

1979 Ford Granada (inline-6 auto)

This years demolition derby car, sitting in my yard waiting to get reused next year or parted out if room becomes tight:

1983 Volvo 240 sedan (automatic, 240,000 miles odometer broken)

For what it's worth I eBya all the junk off my demolition derby cars that gets removed for the race... The grille headlight buckets, interior scraps, tail lights, rear glass, spare tire, passanger seat, door panels and a few other miscelaneous things are goign to the VOlov fanatic who sold me the car.

As always I was honest with him. Before I bought the car from him I told him exactyl the fate the car would have with me... he as 100% in support of getting some use out of a car that was not up to snuff according to the Mass State Insection station ot be puyt bakc on the road. And besides that it's a freekin' Volvo 240! They made these bricks for almost three decades, not ONE model year like a super luxurious 1961 Cadillac.

Posted
As some regular C&Gers will recall I've saved just as many cars form the junkyard.

I bought several cars without titles, which in Massachusetts as in most states, means that the chances of the car ending up in a junkyard are about 99%.

Just recently I posted about my newest Cadillac: a 1979 Coupe Deville in factory colors: Firethorn Red with a white leather interiror and half-roof. Even this car pales in comparison to a 1961 Cadillac anything but me and my Buddy Ross joined efforts and saved this 72,000 mile beauty from the junkyard!

Also, I played a major part in keeping several other cars (some more deserving than others) out of the junkyard and on the road:

- 1987 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

- 1983 Pontiac Firebird t-top (create truck 350)

- 1993 Mazda 626 w/ cracked block

- 1987 Chevy Nova (5-speed, 188,000 miles)

- 1987 Ford Crown Victoria

- 1990 Chevy Suburban 1500 (barn doors)

- 1984 Datsun Maxima (No title, bought w/ a "PARTS ONLY" P&S)

But again, NONE of these would have been missed like a 1961 ANYTHING, esp. a Cadillac. I have a budget for 80s shitboxes not 60s classics otherwise I'd be saving '59 Buicks, '58 Dodges and '61 Cadillacs. Also, I do have a softspot for 1987 since that's the year my family emigrated to the USA.

Here you see my POS Datsun and my old '87 Fleetwood Brougham Delegance. I SPECIFICALLY sold it to Allen because I KNEW even if it took him 10 years to resore it he'd never crush it... WORST case scenario the car would get parted out.

And the Datsun was bought with no "legal" way of registering it in Massachusetts due to the fact that the Gypsies had abandoned it on Richard's property and moved to Texas and no one knew how to contact them. Technically I'm only the second owner of the car... they just drove around illegaly wiht detached plates.

The whole story reeked of "hot car" which is why I had the cops run the vin and ran a carfax before I jumped into what I knew would already be a paperwork mess full of red tape and a dozen trips to the RMV.

Now 12,500 miles later I'm glad I did it. Nine times out of ten I'd crush a Japanese car instead of making any kind of effort like this but a RWD talking Datsun-Nissan Maxima w/ the motor & IRS out of a 240Z hooked up to a nice 5-speed manual was worth it.

Hipocrite I'm NOT.

Sixty, again, you unfairly call this guy the 'BIGGEST A$$HOLE EVER!!' because he trashed a second-hand mediocre car that at the time no one gave two craps about. Remember, the car was maybe 12 years old at the time, so its the equivalant of trashing a '93 DeVille or whatever today. Again, look at the site and tell me this gentleman is an 'A$$hole'.
Posted
I'll retract my statement that he was an Asshole, still at best he acted like a selfish spoiled brat!

"I decided if I couldn't keep it, no one would get it. My friends and I destroyed the car, smashed the glass, caved in the roof, spray-painted it up, twisted every piece of metal, ripped the upholstery and defaced it entirely. Then we parked it in the church parking lot so people could see it on the way to church!"

Sounds like the automotve equivelant of telling a girl if you will not date/marry/have sex w/ me I'll kill you so no one else can have you!

But as far as Croc, my oppinion stands.

Fly: I changed the title of the thread, other then that what do you want me to do? Praise Croc for being a Sadistic Bastard? <_< I'm not "having it out" wiht anyone... I posted some relevant pics/stories. Yes they were instigated by Croc but they are relevant to the topic of useless Automotive destruction. I guess maybe I have a problem understanding how someone could even mention a 1961 Cadillac and a 1993 Ford Escort inthe same sentance nevermind draw a comparitive annalogy. Either way the destruction this guy did is selfish and wreckless. I do not have a problem with him shipping his '79 Coupe Deville to Deutchland, someone will probably treat that car better than a MB AMG out there. Us Europeans who grew up driving/rifing around in little POS Econoboxes seem to prize/value GM Classics more so then the typical American. There's a few nice '59 Buicks in Germany.

One has to understand that a '61 that wasn't absolutely pristine didn't mean much to someone in the 70s.

Just a few short years ago I was driving a Mercury XR7 and was not even a Ford fan.. the car kind of fell inot my lap and I was desperate for a nice daily driver V8 RWD car with a comfortable cabin. Book value of the car was not much, it had the typical horrific Ford stereo/tape that sounded like a CB radio, the rocker panels had some rot and the damn heater core was going but STILL I felt bad when a girl sideswiped it in my front yard so violently she totalled it. (& her Grand Am & the neighbor's Mistubishi) Same wiht my '83 Firebird. It's a throwaway car to most. Esp. with 183,000 miles and a salvage title, crate 350 nonwithstanding. That does not mean I would ever total the car in some aluminum baseball bat frenzy w/ a bunch of drinking buddies.

Its just a car. It doesn't matter. The world wasn't a better place for having it, the world isn't a better place for it being destroyed. Moving on.

Well one doesnt need to spend much time at a board to know what to expect out of someone in givin situations. Like 6T8 being pissed over someone pounding on an old Caddy Then one would not be surprised to see croc jump on the chance to make large of it Then it seems Bri always gets in the middle of these and cant understand the point of both sides and theres never any doubt I will poke my face into the middle of it either.......ey ? OK everybody, I get it, I get it ! I think Monster Jams should be nothing but Asian cars, I think Monster jams should be held regularly, in all towns throught the US. I think these Asian cars should be free for the taking as charity for these great Monster Jam weekly events. This would promote more localized industries for recycling the precious metals to supply the increased demand of N.American built cars. You know, Caddys and Buicks and such :CG_all: :D Edited by razoredge

Fly tries to be a peacemaker a lot, I'm not sure how often it works. Don't get me wrong man, it's better than being another fighter! As far as the car goes, yes, it's a shame. How many classics get destroyed in movies though? ... and how many bigger issues are there around the world?

Razor:

Last night I was flipping through the channels and when I stopped at Speed, Sofia seemed pretty entranced my the Monster Trucks flashing on the screen... I left it on and walked away to grab some dinner, but out of the corner of my eye caught a pile of BOF cars from the 1980s being driven over by some stupid Excursion w/ military axles. The really crazy part: there was not one but TWO 1980s Ford/Mercury Full size coupes in there.

I could not believe that. WTF are the chances of them destroying two in one night when they are as rare as Eyebrows on eggs these days?

Again, nothing even close to a '59 Buick or '61 Caddy but still wrong regardless fo the year.

Seriously, which of these deserves to be crushed?

Honda Civic

Toyota Corolla

These things are even near-impossible to find online.

Carguy: Nope, he's got a fine collection today and seems to treat them well, but it does NOT excuse this savage act and begs the question: why the hellwould you advertse this kind fo brutality? It's like he's proud of it. WTF???

None. They all have a part in car history, good or not. Some person would
want one of those cars....to each their own.

What if it was someone's first car, and they wanted to own one again?

I work with someone who paid 2 grand to get his hands on a 89 Escort
hatch. (which was in good shape). He really enjoys driving that thing..
and there is nothing wrong with that. :)

The point is they made millions of Escort Hatches, a 1961 Cadillac was a rare car to begin with. Not a throwaway econobox. If you were driving a '61 Caddy new you were SOMEONE. It made you a VIP just by the virtue of the fact that it was stil the Standard of the World. Thsio was before emissions bullshit, cats, evap canisters, 4100, diesels, FWD miniature sedans and even before the dissapearance of fins.

In referance to Fly's sig: Do you think a '61 Caddy would get 30 kilometers to a hecter of Kerosine? :P [/Random simpsons referance]
