Just a few days over 20 years ago people got killed by the Chinese army for daring to speak against the government.

Now they're allowing a gay pride parade...

Shanghai Pride

At least the Chinese government seems able to change, rather than riding their ideology into the ground like the USSR did.

China still scares me, though. They pretty much own the USA right now, and do we have assurances these advances won't be reversed at the drop of a hat?

Not at all.

Still, I rejoice in any sign that hardliners are starting to think.

Hardliners of any ideology are the ones who truly oppress people and start wars.

There's a quote from the Flobots that I love: "There is a war going on for your mind. If you are thinking, you are winning."

I'll always remember that guy that faced down the tank...

I'm with blu, they pretty much own us right now and I don't trust them at all.

I remember the tank thing well.

Sigh, China would not even be a problem if we had not of let our companies invest over there.

Why do you allow your companies to invest in a non-friendly country?

And to further the matter, China would not be such a polluting country if we had not invested in them!

 me too

The sad events of the Chinese Government's repression of students and the last Governor of Hong-Kong constantly bashing China's Human Rights record before handing over the territory to China planted the seed there.
