Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it will recall about 99,000 Odyssey and Stream minivans produced between 2003 and 2005, while Suzuki Motor Corp. said it would recall about 325,000 vehicles. Honda said a computer problem may cause the failure of a pump that transmits oil to the minivans' continually variable transmissions and that it would repair the defect free of charge. Separately, Suzuki said it will recall a total of about 325,000 vehicles from five models - Alto, Alto Lapin, Kei, Wagon R, and Mr Wagon - because insufficient lubrication of bearings in their transmissions could result in a breakdown. It was not clear whether the recalls affected vehicles sold outside of Japan. Officials for both Honda and Suzuki could not be reached for comment late Thursday.

So...this actually would affect JDM Odyssies only, right? Since the US market van doesn't have a CVT... In a related note...the Suzuki Mr. Wagon.

Well, I'm just not going to be an auto enthusiast at all if god almighty Honda has a recall! Is nothing sacred?

No CVT Odyssey's in America, so this won't effect us. It seems like a lot of Toyota recalls are also JDM or UKDM only. Maybe they don't have as much quality control over there, or they out-source the parts to some lower quality manufacturers. I wonder who the manufacturer of the pump is.

Now really, siegen. Could it be that quality control is identical here as abroad? Could it be that quality problems are handled differently here? As in, quietly?
