What is the automaker of your primary car?

For the car you drive the most (your primary vehicle), which automaker does it belong to? I don't think we've had an actual poll of this before, but I was kinda interested to see how many members of C&G actually drive GM cars and trucks.

At this time 3 Oldsmobiles with a combined milage of 631,000 miles, licenced, insured and drivin. One Dodge Dakota at 134,000 miles, that only see necessary use as a PU is far more expensive that a car.

I used to be like that, American cars were junk and GM was the company of the antichrist. My dad felt the same way and owned everything from Renault to Mercedes Benz to Toyota and Datsun (OK Nissan). But he thought about his experiences with the 18 or so new cars he had owned starting with a 1936 Ford coupe up to 75 Celica GT he got as a second car and he realized the only difference between the ownership experience of an import and an American car was the imports cost five times as much to repair. He stopped with the imports bought a Caddy and stayed with Caddy's till he died. I was a hardheaded kid and continued to live by the rice burner is better rule through a new 80 Toyota Corrola an 84 CRX 1.5 an 86 CRX si then I re-gained use of my brain and got a new 92 Z24. I sold that and have had Z28's ever since and you know what? I found that the only difference between the ownership experience of an import and an American car was the imports cost five times as much to repair.

Because I've already explained it so many times... I love Pontiac Grand Ams, but damnit, I can't afford to fix anything that may break. I can't now and that's why I'm selling it. If I had the time and money... I might've kept it and got another GA. But I can't. I'm 16 and have school and no job. I need a reliable car to transport me to and from work before I can actually get a job. I can't have another GA for all those reasons...

Okay... you're new and don't know my situation, so I can overlook yet another annoying post.

Basically... what I said to WMJ. For the full story... you can see the threads named "GA Problems..." "Well... As With Flybrian..." both started by me as well as "No Reverse Lights" started by another. I don't think GM is crap. Well, not total crap anyways. There just aren't many vehicles that appeal to me that are reliable. The ones I like and can afford were all unfortunately made when GM's were total crap. That and the one in which my passion lies with (Fieros), my parent's do not allow me to have for the most BS reasons (like thinking it's a "queer car"). I'd one of those over anything regardless of reliability, but I can't. As for the rest of American cars... Well, I will never step foot in any Ford. For personal reasons and such. I just hate Ford (and Toyota) with a passion. As for DCX... the only vehicles that appeal to me were rebadged Mitsubishis.

Anyways, all that stuff is in my sig because I am a huge Pontiac fan. I love just about every Pontiac to death (except the few blatant rebadges, the Aztek, and some "yawn-worthy" ones). Pontiac also happens to be the one thing that's keeping me a GM fan (if that). Without, I don't really have any reason to like GM. Especially now that Lutz is doing away with distinctive styling; inside and out.

Also, I'm a very open-minded person. I buy what I like regardless of where it came from or where the profit goes. I really don't care about stuff like that as long as it's a vehicle that fits my wants. Basically... notchback coupes with sporty styling with reasonable performance. Manual transmissions are must. Drive wheels don't matter to me and neither does the plastic quality of the interior, though. Reliability never used to either until I had to deal with my GAGT...

So... anybody else want me to explain myself while I'm at it? <_<

My current Household: 100% GM.. for now... Me: Oldsmobile - With 125,000 miles it runs good, but a little sluggish in shifting and some other small issues. I'd like to replace it with a newer Grand Am or Alero coupe with an ecotec + 5 speed for some better gas mileage. Dad: Chevy - He likes the car but misses the full size feel with the Buick Park Ave that he had that my mom currently uses. He's looking into getting a Charger R/T in the next year or two (I wish I could convince hin into a SRT-8 :D ) Mom: 94 Buick (probly will be replaced very soon, with it having 280K+ miles and having startup/running issues. Bro: 92 Buick - Car runs but my bro comes to me complaining about several issues including a hole in his wheel whell that leaks water into the trunk that goes to the rear seat and smells really bad it it's non cleaned up in time. He also says his car get's 12miles to the gallon...

I wanted to vote GM but truth be told for the first time in four years I'm putting most of my miles on a non-GM car. :ph34r: In the past month the brakdown is as follows: '84 Datsun: 1800 miles '79 Coupe Deville: 300 miles '97 STS: 60 miles '68 Camaro: 4 miles (no I'm not kidding) :( Although in the past year (12 months) I put about 13,000 miles on my now gone '87 Fleetwood Brougham, 3,000 miles on the STS & about another 1500 miles on the Camaro, I've been driving the hell out of the Maxima. I bought it with 132,000 and it just turned 144,444 earlier today. It's not so much the practicality and good fuel economy but the fact that it's the only 5-speed (manual trans) that I own.

That's a sweet lookin' Coupe DeVille. Cadillac used to dip their bumpers in so many layers of different metals, topped with chrome, that they always stayed looking good for years and years after other chrome bumpers rotted away from the inside out.

Speaking of that, we have a Suzuki Grand Vitara in the shop right now. Our customer got into a rental car while we repair his vehicle. He... stopped by and asked for his steering wheel cover (padded velour) because the rental car wheel was TOO COLD! I had to chuckle, that was a new one and I thought I'd heard it all.

Yup, that Vega looks sick!!! And I want to se photos of the Avanti. I have only sen two Avantis in the last 2 years. On my way to deliver the Fleetwood Brougham I saw a '63 Avanti in dark red in a supermarket parking lot, I swung a U-ie to take a picture but I was too late it drove off as I pulled into the parking lot. This is the crazy part... the lady driving it looked like the Lady From PAsadena in the Mopar ads. No joke, she was like 70 and had a fancy hat!
