Happy Birthday guys!

Hey 68, where do I ship your present to? You'll know what it is the second you see it! I figured you could use one:

Thank You everyone.

Lack-of-B-Pillar day went great.

Drove my 500SEC with all four

windows down, for only the 3rd,

or the 4th time this year.

Spent time with my two girls,

since wife worked all day. Now

I'm off to Boston for a surprise.

(Lobster...? or maybe Filet Mignon?):spin:

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your new toy. :P

Thanks, and thanks for helping me get it down

to Ass-hat-Chusetts by playing the chase car.

The Grinch 'Burban Sold for $1200 on Friday morning,

so I "reinvested" exactly half of it in a Diesel M-Benz.

Makes me hungry just looking at it! :spin:

Cool..another diesel Merc... there are still quite a few of them running around here in AZ. It seems like any W123 (even the coupes) I see is a diesel..

I hope it's at least a turbo (they're bad enough with all of that lag), Benz NA diesels are flat out painful to drive.

I rode in an '80s 300SD once, nice big comfy car, similar to 'my' 500SEL, but oh so slooooooooooow...felt slower than my 52 hp diesel Escort did, but the Escort felt 'peppier' since it was small and light.

The turbo lag in an '85 300TD I had to drive nearly got me killed at intersections.

Step on the pedal......wait......lunge!

Terrible car!

The seats may as well have been cinder blocks they were so hard.

One thing I didn't realize is those midsize W123 diesels were available w/ both 4 and 5 cyl diesels, in turbo and non turbo forms. Imagine if that had been a 220D (not sold in the US, AFAIK)--a 2.2 4 cyl diesel with a stonking 54hp! :)

LoL @ 0-62mph discussion.

Yes, it's a turbocharged 5-cylinder. My FIRST turbo actually.

It may be slow but the whooosh of the turbo is fun to listen

to, as is the smell of french fries.

Jut got home w/ the wife. D.F. & JessiChan were given bad

directions to "Fire + Ice" and so they gave up after a wild

goose chase around Harvard University & M.I.T.

I like being the designated driver, so I got my wife home in

her BMW after a quick "detour" and let's just say her under

wear was in her purse when we got home. :P

Thank you.

Happy Birthday 68panther!

Likewise. Hope you had a good one. :D

Hahahahaha-ha! Gotta love the lack of a temporary plate in MASS.

The 7-day law makes things WAY more interesting.

What's the 7-day law? Any other states that don't have a temporary plate?

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY, guys!

Interesting...so what's the story on the 500SEL, did 68 'sell' it to DF or something like that? 7-day law, eh? I have no idea what it is in AZ, but in CO, you can use a temporary plate up to 60 days.

Another thing..I'm not sure how it works between states and using an old plate, but a guy I used to work w/ in CO bought a Boxster in LA and drove it back a few years ago..he drove around a month or so on the previous owners' CA plates...that seemed odd to me.

I babysat the 500SEL for a couple days because we were too tired to drive back to his house and then drive back to mine to get it after we picked up the diner on wheels.

He didn't leave me the keys to have fun with it though. :hissyfit:

That's no fun.. those big Mercs are fun to drive, though. I enjoy driving my sister's occasionally.
