Awesome, I have nearly the same stereo as you (yours is a little upmarket though...different LED readout and I believe yours comes with a remote). I'm actually trying to install mine myself right now; my car was broken into and my old Alpine 9847 was stolen. Insurance replaced it with a 9884.

I think it's kinda funny that you could get a CD and cassette player in a `94 Shadow. Was CD at last an option for the Vette?

Yeah, there was a 10 disc changer in the trunk that i removed, see last pic. My vette didn't have the Bose option, so it's really easy to put in an aftermarket unit. I love being able to use my ipod, bluetooth and hd radio are nice too, and the wife wants a satellite radio subscription. It sounds so much better than the factory radio, i love this head unit.

I'll gladly accept the aftermarket look with these units, because the sound quality of the 98XX series is excellent. Even if you have factory speakers it sounds good.

That's true, I noticed a huge improvement in sound after the install.

nice. some cars benefit tons more than others with just the H/U replaced. i could have shipped you my old 99 monte's stock cd player. LOL
