Very funny. And somewhat true. Though not all of American cars are junk. I am loving my Impala so far. And I liked my Equinox.

Was already posted. Mostly true. But when I saw the title of the thread, I thought it was "flamerbait" which should have dragged NOS in here by now.

This is SO BIZARR, I just helped a 77 year old man who my wife works for replace his 1997 Expedition with a 2008 Expedition EL. Over all much better vehicle than the old version, but the one thing I noticed for a 40,000+ SUV is all the hard poor quality plastic. So many people Bash GM about the plastic interiors and yet FORD does it on their new auto's still. here they put a little wood on the steering wheel and fake wood on the dash over the Nav and yet everywhere else is a plastic hardness. Even the Vents are the same as they put in the Escort and new Taurus.

The old man is happy with his new ride, but I have to say, FORD has a long way to go to have Trucks and SUV's that compete with GM. The only thing I will Bash GM on is that I did like the 3rd row electronic fold flat seats. That is way better than taking out the third seat in GM's vehicles. I do realize that that would have caused GM to change the rear wheel setup.

Ford's newest offerings have interiors way above that of GM's current ones.

 I must be missing the Koolaid bowl your drinking out of DodgeFan, I spent the last 3 days looking over the complete 2009 lineup of trucks, SUV's and Cars before Jerome decided to go with the heavy discounted 2008 Expedition EL. He could see very little differance and so could I between the 08 and 09 models. They all have hard plastic dashes, yes they all seem to get the Microsoft Sync which is cool, but except for techno nurds, you can not tell me that Ford has superior interiors than GM.

They Suck.

Worst yet is I was SO DISAPPOINTED in the Ford Mustang. Poor Quality all the way around, rusty parts on the cars. If this is their version of world class quality, then they need to make some major changes.

Or you have you blinders on, which based on your posts thus far today would be a good assumption. Compare the Flex, Fusion, and MKS their GM competitors (Traverse, Malibu, Lucerne [iMO]) and the interiors are far nicer? Don't take my word for it? Go read the reviews of these cars, or better yet go sit in them all back to back.

:rotflmao: I actually think all those auto's are reworked old versions from the 70's to 90's. i am not impressed by any of them. The Flex and Fusion are just sad, the MKS does have some potential, but still Ford cheapened up the interior.

Then they do make a vehicle for everyone. :sign0200:

Enjoy your Plastic. :D

Since you probably need, help, I'll point you in the right direction.

From the Insideline Comparison Test

With better design and superior materials, the Flex's interior is simply a nicer place to be than the Traverse.

The Flex excels in interior quality. An improvement for the automaker, the Flex's interior offers an abundance of soft panels and pleasing textures. The Traverse's uneven interior panel seams were further hampered by a mismatched gray and tan color scheme.

From C&D's Midsize Hybrid Comparison Test

Malibu Lows: Weak on mpg, uninvolving hybrid machinery, droning engine sound, dollar-store plastic interior.

Fusion Highs: Impressive hybrid machinery, major mpg, video cluster invites driver into the game, superb quality.

But facts are so overrated.

Again you are wrong, seems to be a trend. The Flex an MKS are based on the D platform, and the Fusion is based on the Mazda6 architecture. Facts are so silly aren't they?

Dodgefan, you have posted THE OPINIONS of automotive writers. How are they FACTS? For example, you should check the same issue of C&D, I believe it was the Ten Best issue... in the Ten Best article I believe, they PRAISE the Malibu interior. When I saw this, I laughed and stuck the magazine back on the rack.

So you then think Ford's interiors are terrible and GM's are the best EVAR? I've sat in these vehicles, unless your blind you can tell the difference. I'm not even a big Ford fan but I acknowledge that their new interiors are the best of the Detroit 3 that's on the market.

We'll see how GM's new LaCrosse is, I hope it's as good as it looks in photos.

Next someone's gonna tell me the Aveo is a better car than the Fiesta, and the G3 is a real Pontiac.

Let me reiterate: you have posted opinions, not facts. I did not offer my opinion on the matter, so please don't lead the conversation with absurd Aveo/G3 comparisons.

Sorry dude. :P

That being said while the auto rags have their discrepancies, one need only to sit and poke around the interiors of the cars listed above to see and feel the difference.

The original point was that Ford's interiors were all being accused of being horribly cheap and that GM's were better. I'm just making a point that its not the case.

a lady at work picked up a new ford flex. it may be the fact it is black with the dark brown interior with tinted windows but it seems to me like a cave almost. i sat in the fron seat and the back seat. it was nice but i sat in a traverse at an auto show this weekend and i have to say i much prefer the traverse. hers was a demo that was loaded to the hilt and the traverse was an ltz.
