You have to compare apples to apples. The Prius gets 65.7 mpg (imperial) combined (NEDC), while the 116d gets 64.2 mpg, combined. The Prius emits less pollution, too.

That said, I'd rather have the diesel.

HaHa! Control the emissions, diesel rear drive is my totally preferred way to go! Not this electronic crap that could go worse.

I wonder if you add in the effects of battery pollution production for the prius if the whole emission question swings in favor of the desiel.

Does a 335d have a smaller carbon footprint than a Hummer when you include production? 'Cause a Pruis doesn't.
