Wrapping Christmas presents sucks. I'm terrible at it, everything looks bad, but I really dont care since its going to end up all over my living room floor anyways. My brilliant plan (which was rejected) was to put everyone's gifts in their own pile, put a blanket or tarp or something over each pile then let everyone pull the cover off to reveal all their gifts at once. But no, everything has to be wrapped individually. Buckets of Lincoln Logs and sleeping bags are really hard to wrap.

I actually like wrapping gifts and I'm pretty good at it. My girlfriend taught me I should make people work to open their gifts, so they're wrapped and taped like a mass murderer is locked up in a maximum security prison.

Satty, what about using gift bags? They still look nice and all you have to do is wrap up the gift in tissue paper, put it in the bag, put a little more tissue paper on top, tap the top of the bag closed (or leave it open and arrange the top tissue paper all pretty like, stick a bow on, and there you go.

If I had thought about gift bags yesterday when I was at the store, I would have gotten some, but I really didn't feel like going out again this morning and really wanted to get everything wrapped and out of the way.

Yeah, I do this too for my gifts it saves a lot of time.

pointless waste of paper if you ask me

Well yeah but it looks pretty. :P Plus if you recycle it it's not really a waste besides the money you spent on it. Of course we stock piled paper a few years ago and haven't had to actually buy the stuff since.

There is a certain something special about ripping the paper off your gifts on Christmas morning.

Not if you're my dad...while the rest of us are digging in, he's sitting there neatly opening the wrapping paper making sure not to rip it. He always jokes about saving the paper for next year, yet it all ends up in the recycling bin.

OMG my spry 92-year old grandfather does the same thing, mustang. Every year we all call out "just rip it, Pap!"

HATE IT!! I always waited until Christmas Eve to wrap my sons presents, by the time I was done, my legs were numb, my back hurt so bad I couldn't even get up out of the floor. Thank God this year is the car, no wrapping for me. LOL

Oh come on we would love to see you try to wrap a car. :smilewide:

What I've been doing for years? Having parents (well, mom, mainly) that insist on Christmas gifts to a certain level, we've had a cycle of going shopping either in the store or online, picking out & buying our own stuff, then it being wrapped right in front of us...just so there's still a Kodak moment at Christmas for opening of the gifts. I try to get away from it every year, but still, at December 15th "someone" is breathing down my neck to buy some stuff for myself with her dough so her tree doesn't look lonely.

It's always a thriller unwrapping things you bought yourself weeks earlier  Oh well. Weird this year, none of us have bought any of the others of us anything or for ourselves, and there hasn't been any wrapping going on. Hmm. Come to think of it, part of my not being in the spirit this year is not having gotten anything for anyone...or having wrapped...well, except for 2 gift bags (seriously, simple) for co-workers.

Yeah everybody is broke, its a weird Christmas. For me the first one wthout my husband since I was 16 and broke and the boy getting the car, I didn't even put up a tree this year.

LOL!

That sounds like my Mom. We always kid her about taking SO long to open her gifts....

I like the gift bags, but I also like to have something for them to open. So, if I can use a gift bag for an item, I do. But, I also wrap the item in colored tissue paper.....
