I really want Gran Turismo 4, but they never release the GT series for the PC so scratch that. I was looking around for some PC racing game that have some semblence of realism like the GT series, and came across GTR Evolution and Need for Speed Pro Street. GTR looks like a decent game, but I'm more interested in muscle and production car racing and GTR is basically about high-end exotics and racers.

Need for Speed Pro Street seems to have a great range of cars, but it seems to suffer in the realism department. I was watching a video on YouTube of a drag race, and people are hitting quarter miles in 5 seconds with old GTOs and 240SX's. I've only played Need for Speed Underground, which was more of an arcade style game...and Pro Street looks to be the same way with unrealistic dynamics and acceleration.

Am I right in my assessment, and are there any PC games out there that are halfway realistic and have a decent mix of cars to race?

personally i love pro street. the speed challenges though are retarded difficult once you get towards the end of the game though. when is a short speed race you are cool but the long ones the slightest bump can send you over the edge into totalsville. same with the drag racing. awesome car list, lots of sweet upgrades with real names, and the customization is out there good too. if you are lookin for a good PC sim with a good car list i'd have to say forza would be your best bet. GRID is pretty good too but it treds that fine line of being a little arcadey

I looked online and Forza seems to only be for Xbox.

I don't know, maybe I'll have to look into Pro Street some more.

ProStreet is probably the worst installment of the Need for Speed franchise I have ever played, especially for PlayStation 2, which is slightly discontented from the versions made for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms (no Camaro Concept available in any race mode, dumbed-down damage modeling, etc.). The assists aren't actually much different than what I've seen in Forza 2, in fact they almost seem to be direct rip-offs. Also, the free roam mode introduced in Underground 2 is no longer around, and the DJ voiceovers during race select and loading screens can get very annoying.

EDIT: Undercover was released just a few days ago. Save up a few more bucks and go for it.

unless you get easily frustrated. EGM says that the cops in undercover are even more rediculous aggressive than the ones in most wanted. they said the cops and the AI are like the last levels of black list on most wanted but worse. eh, i think i am going to hit up midnight club LA this Christmas

Also GT5 comes out 1st quarter too. though i believe it is PS3 only it may be PC too.(?)

I guess those of us without a PS3 is screwed huh ??? lol But we both know why i'm favoring the Xbox right now. Too bad they don't have Project Gotham Racing on the PC. I enjoy playing it on the 360. Think me and Cletus gonna have same christmas present too.

Project Gotham Racing 3 was horrible, I thought. I sold it within two weeks of having it, I disliked it so much.

I got it for free so I ain't gonna complain. I heard PGR4 is much better though. When I feel like forking out $20 i'll get Forza 2
