I made $75 when I referred my cousin to buy a used car (a PT Cruiser she really likes) from us when her '95 Tracker died. YAY!

And thanks, 66.

Yay for the $75

Yay for your cousin liking the PT (I didn't like the one I drove, the glovebox door falling off didn't help, but I can see the appeal of them)

Boo for the dead Tracker, I have an awkward soft spot for them.

Yeah it was a light green 2 door convertible. The rocker panels were shot (rust), but that was minor compared to the front hubs falling apart inside. The cost to repair would have been prohibitive, so she junked it.

They will run forever, I'm not denying that. The mechanicals seem solid. Its the body/suspension that always seemed weak. Not weak like "Its going to break if I hit a curb" more like "how many salty winter will it take?" weak.

Yeah.... the Tracker is not a good case for BOF. :P

Please elaborate...?

Balthazar's joke did not offend me, and it would have not

even if he had said the joke the other way around, or if

he or some other member had said something that pissed

me off, it might have actually been pissed me off that the

thread was locked because that takes away my ability to

respond or retort.

But whatever....

It didn't offend me either...I know all of you guys really care about what happens to our country.

I was just amused that someone else "got in trouble" for a change.

Politics should stay in the threads labeled "politics" and since that was a political comments (that broke one of the rules put forth by the admins) I see no reason it shouldn't have been closed. And I was just using some of the less-used emoticons.

I can say this, having started autocrossing I really like how RWD cars feel at the limit, and I don't like the understeer of FWD cars.

I just wish there were more sub-30k RWD cars than Mustang, Miata, Camaro, S2000, Solstice, Sky. etc.

But sliding around in a late model GTO has really made me like the whole RWD thing...plus if you live up North like we do they are lots O fun in the snow!

Kinda cool working on yhour own car, isn't it? This is another advantage to me in having a teenaged son, someone I love to do it with.

I can guarantee that you and Sixty-Eight and Dave87RS, etc with young children will find out one thing-no matter how much you think you love them now, that love will grow one hundred fold by the time they turn 15-

As will their ability to break your heart when they do something stupid.

66S: yup!

As far as RWD, it makes the BEST winter beaters in climates where you get tons of snow/ice.

Yep!

Of course, my dad laughed at me today when we changed the oil in the Cavalier- I was rotating the tires when I dropped one...only to watch it roll down the driveway and down the street....

At least I got it back. 8)

Well heck I haven't posted some solid news about what's been going on with me in my life, but it's all positive.

Have a good paying STEADY job now and will be moving to PA to be with Kelsey in December. Congrats to you 68!

Today's good news: I found an 1864 Indian head penny in a roll at work today. It's my oldest penny by far and my second oldest coin overall (I'm a closet coin collector of sorts), so that was cool and unexpected.

Posted

Any indian head penny with a readable date is worth at least two bucks. Not that it matters because I keep all my coins in a box and hang onto them. Let my grandkids sell 'em.

I got my 20 roll of 1oz silver dollars just recently, they pretty. lol

anyone have any safe recommendations? I found this Honeywell safe. the only fire resistant "thing" in this house i know of is a 1/2 hour "chest" for important documents and such.

I have a... sort of... Pontiac shrine on my bureau: the glass-faced dash emblem from a '46-47 with an Art Deco Indian Head inside it (about 5" in dia), a stainless 3-D Indian Head off the flanks of a '52-54, a 1903 Indian Head penny and a '23 Indian Head nickel.

As a coin collector I am jealous!

I have a lot of old Indian head penny's, one from at least every year they were made IIRC.

Things I am thankful for.

My recent raise at UPS. Been there 14 months now. It's like a part

of who I am now. I love rewarding work, when my 5+ hour shift is

over & those four trucks (that I loaded) pull out of the building

at 9:00 am I can honestly say I have positively contributed to

society. With the right amount of caffeine, and a good work ethic it

can be one of the best jobs you'll ever have. Back-breaking? Yes.

Frustrating? Yes. Stressful? Yes. But there's something awesome

about work like that... you'll never have more respect for a

co-worker than when they work side by side with you, putting

every single ounce of energy into their job... loading boxes onto

the big brown trucks as if they were they were bombs going being

loaded into the belly of a B-17 in 1943.

I've made some amazing friends at UPS, the quality of the average

UPS pre-loader tends to be very high in terms of character & work

ethic, & the friendships you establish there are rooted in something

the average outsider will never understand.

I may not know everything there is to know about a few of the guys

(and women, to be fair) who I work with, but our friendship & the

level of respect we have for each other is MUCH stronger than at a

typical white-collar job where you never really get to truly KNOW

most of the people you work side by side with.

----

Also, I m thankful for my families' health, being able to drive a V8

and have my wife drive a V8, go out to eat from time to time, Lindt

Milk Chocolate, Hazelnuts; esp. as combined with Lindt Chocolate &

gourmet coffee, Raspberries; esp. as combined with Snapple Iced

Tea & Lindt Chocolate, Dr.Pepper, Rob Zombie's kick ass music,

and... oh-yeah! Sour Skittles.

More later.

One thing I'm happy about is I found out Friday my contract had been extended to the end of March, was originally 'till the end of the year. Was concerned they were going to cut contractors, given the city's budget shortfall. After 6 weeks there, it's fine... probably the most stress-free, low key corporate cubicle job I've had over the years. Easy commute, easy money.

I ran out of diapers and my kid just pooped. Not sure what that has to do with anything (other than pointing out that I'm a pretty awful parent) but I put in in here anyways, because now I have a negative number of diapers (0 clean-1 dirty=-1) and this thread is about negativity perhaps?

I thought your little thread here was not supposed to be negative. I know English is not your 1st language, perhaps you should look up the meaning of negative in an English dictionary. :smilewide:
