HSV body kits tend to be a little too excessive for my taste (don't really like the dark grille on the W427), but offering the Z06 engine in a sedan package is a blessing for enthusiasts with families! :yes:

A good car but way too much in price. I cannot wait for the G8 to hit the used car lot. It will be a good project for conversion by buying the LS7 off crate along with the 6-speed and get the hands dirty. Camnio, will you provide your expertise and help? :AH-HA_wink:

LS7 in a Zeta sedan can never be a bad thing... yes the body kit

is a bit wild but then again this aint some ricer FWD Taurus SHO,

Honda Accord EX or a Toyo-Lex ES330, this is a fire breathing,

500 horsepower BMW slayer.

Oh by the way guys... I bought a gently used McLaren F1, here's

a photo of it, parked in front of my house with my Massachusetts

plates on it. Yeah, fall hit early this year. :P

I'm making perfect sense, I received an e-mail that the UK car was not going to be scrapped along with a pic. As for the Swiss car, I at first didn't care if it was scrapped or not, but have since changed my mind and I am working to have it sent to the States. Nothing has changed from what I told the few people about the special engine back in the late winter of 2007.

Because had you have bothered to know, and researched the vehicle in question which involved little more work than looking at a Flickr account, you'd have saved yourself a lot of embarrassment - especially in front of another poster au fait with the UK's system. Whoever it was that sent your your claimed e-mail was merely taking you for a bit of a plonker I'm afraid.

Vauxhall's version of the W427 debuts in September. There's no way any Vauxhall employee would be allowed a prototype for use on public roads and the reasons are numerous - from the risk of protecting intellectual property issues to the car's uninsurability for a private individual, and as such the risk of contravening the legalities surrounding company car usage, all in addition to the registration issue in this case.

The Flickr account pictures state the car is a 6.0 litre VXR8, and since the car was registered in March 2008, this would hold true - the 6.2 litre upgraded model didn't filter into UK showrooms until May.

PCS, I don't live my life worrying whether I'm making friends or enemies. I'm more than happy with the social circle my wife and I have, which includes friends as well as family. I get along with pretty much anybody as long as they have a dose of common sense. And to determine one's personal friends and foes based purely on their home country's flag is ridiculously childish.

You've been conned though. Even after photographic proof was provided of the same vehicle from the Flickr account, you insisted this was the car you claimed it was, and in the face of evidence pertaining to UK registrations & licencing which demonstrated that it couldn't be, nor could have been passed to a Vauxhall employee as you then claimed. Given that you claim to work in Europe for GME, I would have thought you'd have researched the claim in more detail. Can you provide pictures of the Swiss car please? This is the one of interest to me, since Switzerland isn't a market for the VXR or the HSV GTS.

This is interesting - here we have someone who claims to be an executive at GME, someone so senior in fact that GME actually gave him a prototype 7.0 litre performance saloon as a company car. Yes he's actively involved in an online gaming forum? Anyway, he's now going to travel to Scotland in it instead of the various Pontiacs he was making the journey in previously. Driving any Pontiac in itself would not be out of the ordinary - I myself have seen many Pontiacs on European byways with both US and European registration plates over the years, there's nothing implausible about that. But if he's willing to show off a prototype 7.0 VXR8 to the general public between Switzerland and Scotland, why not show a photo of the car on a forum he's so passionate about to fellow car enthusiasts? This is what I refer to as lacking common sense.

Talk to someone in real life, PCS - try the Ford RS club for starters - instead of people in cyberspace. You've never once said anything complimentary about England ever since I've been reading your posts ("never been to Luton, never want to" et al) - so either you truly dislike England and the English, or you're simply lying by making derogatory remarks to get a response from me. I don't see an awful lot of common sense here either.

Claiming that Vauxhall "isn't a company" when it has its own issued share capital, or "CP Forster prefers speaking German over English" when he works in a German-speaking environment, or that a vehicle with illegal UK plates and private tax disc is "a GM prototype" not only displays little common sense from those making the claims, it insults the intellect of other, more mature car enthusiasts. Your recent claims over the VXR have been of great interest to some of my own pals in the industry, and the comments made understanably disparaging. The biggest lack of knowledge I see on forums - this one and Motor Trend - is the line "all profits go to (wherever country)" because that in itself demonstrates a succinct lack of understanding as to how corporations work, what profit is, and how it can be legally distributed.

So when I say I wouldn't socialise with someone lacking common sense, the above are pretty good examples of what I'm getting at.

LOL Motor Trend was a hoot. Two colleagues and I contributed to those boards for a while. Some great people on there - ReaganLogan (who recently nominated me "most knowledgeable international poster" - how sweet (!)), MuchDrama, Zoomin, Korean Cowboy - all very knowledgeable guys, and some I keep in touch with, and if my schedule ever allows, someday I hope to meet. However, most of the MT forums are ruled by a sizeable group of so-called "domestic" fans, and a number of those have radical and ridiculous beliefs as to how people should be treated who buy foreign cars - some even believing they should be harmed or expelled from the US. The moderators at MT struggle to contain the problems they cause - which are still ongoing - and indeed the behaviour from those individuals was enough to shut Autoweek's own online forum down permanently.

If you browse the UK section enough you'll see plenty of anti-US commentary from UK posters, not that I'd condone it ... but no different to the anti-European garbage spread throughout Motor Trend. I know a number of "aatblokes" in real life, but they're not all on internet forums!

personally, I have a tough time believing that anyone who has 6,596 posts in 22 months has ANY job, let alone a job of any significance within GM or any other large corporation.

as for the "i only posted the picture that someone sent me without checking into it at all" seems eeerily similar to the circumstance that brought down Josiepooi. (boy, those were good times 'sniff, sniff. I miss josh)

As I said, I am working hard to save this car and if I succeed at doing so, those I have promised will see it. Nothing has changed, this is exactly what I told Camino and Z28, if you don't believe me ask them. I care not what you think or believe, but do keep in mind that your name does not appear on any list to see it either, but then I wouldn't show you my 2005 Chevy Equinox for that matter. So nothing personal.

As far as online gaming goes, I enjoy it, I usually run servers for the different games I play, normally I have a server running in North America and one in Europe, I also enjoy XC bicycling too, is there some reason I shouldn't enjoy biking, because I work at GM?

that's kinda funny, given that for the past 20+yrs, it's GM accountants that have taken the brunt of bad press for not allowing the 'car guys' to design and build the cars the public wanted, always skimping on something.

Well in that case, I'll line up along your route between Zurich and Edinburgh then and take photos with the rest of the general public as you drive by. You owe me nothing, but if you're going to make such sensationalist claims with a vehicle which generates substantial interest with GM enthusiasts, then I do think you owe it to the entire forums. As for posting a picture from someone's Flickr account of a standard pre-upgrade 6.0 VXR with a regular private-issue tax disc and non-standard illegal plates popular with the "tuner" crowd in this country and claiming it was a prototype, all you did was make an attempt to insult my intelligence - but you did get a few laughs in the process from motoring enthusiast colleagues of mine (one of whom is a Monaro owner in actual fact) who simply thought it was a joke.

I also like the photo you posted as an avatar of the TGWU action over the then planned controversial cutbacks at Luton in December 2000, one of a series of photos posted by the union online when they threatened legal action against GME. That has nothing to do with Vauxhall as a company, but everything to do with GME's (understandable) rationalisation programme Europe-wide over the past decade, one which looks set to continue after Astra VI production starts at Ellesmere Port and Bochum, threatening cutbacks at the existing Antwerp facility or Bochum itself.

I've no doubt you have a common-or-garden 2005 Equinox, and that you live in the States doing something - somewhere. All very plausible. But a high-ranking employee at GME? Sorry, I don't believe a word of it, especially given the amount of time you spend on here to make the best part of 7,000 posts in less than two years, not to mention your evident poor understanding of the European market and even issues such as NHTSA requirements over vehicle importation. That's nothing personal either.

I'd really like to see a stripped-out road race version of this though (like the Porsche 911 GT3). Or..... a Sportswagon version. Or a Ute - just for Camino. Or a Grange version.

manager but I am QUITE busy and still manage

to rack up dozens of posts in a week... BUT this

forum comprises of 50-75% of my internet time

in a given day. I'm not also gaming & claiming to

be catching red-eye flights all over the world on

GM's tab and driving a $45,000 company car.

with aluminum heads and other non-factory junk but I

did not try to post it claiming it was a GM prototype

car from '67 that pre-dated the ZL1 or some other B.S.

Are you in the UK now? How special. Actually my original plan was to bring the Grand Prix GXP to Edinburgh, I only mentioned bringing the Zurich car as a pipe dream, as I was excited with the car, long before there was any mention of a similar car from Holden. Why would I admonish Chris Doane for taking spy pics, then ride to Scotland in this car, does that make any sense to you? I don't use GM resources for my own personal gain, never have, never will. Ahh I see! No worries. Well a common conversion here is big block Chevy V8's in older Toyota Landcruisers, or diesel Chevy V8's in Nissan Patrols.
