I can't officially wish Happy Birthday, because it's still July 3rd here.

You American members, tell us some interesting things about how you and your area celebrates and maybe some little historical thing about July 4th.

Well Harley, we generally like to git drunk and lose a couple of fingers cuz we hold onto the lit cherry bomb too long. "Hey Earl, check this out!" kaBOOM!!! "Ouch, Earl! I done blowed my pinky finger clean off!" :AH-HA_wink:

I agree.

We are, because they made it happen.

Going to take it easy today...hang out at the pool, do some grilling, maybe head downtown to watch the fireworks tonite..

I can't understand it. Last year in my neighborhood, the fireworks were non-stop for about three days. This year, hardly a peep (though we did have a thunderstorm the night before last, so I thought that held it off). Nothing so far today.

Fireworks work way better if you wait until darkness falls! :rotflmao:

Good point, but, believe me, it was non-stop last year - day or night. I felt sorry for the dogs and old ladies, and wondered how they could stand it.

Which one are you, wildcat, a dog or an old lady? :AH-HA_wink:

I am soooo glad it's raining, and has been for most of the day, plus the forecast is calling for rain for the next several days. Hopefully it means peace and quiet for the weekend. In past years, I've had burnt remains of fireworks on my deck and roof, for God's sake. A residential neighborhood is no place for that crap. Let me be clear, I love to "ooooo" and ahhhhhhh" over an awesome fireworks display, but it has to be in a safe area, dagnabit.

Naw, I'm just an old dog. (No, not a b***h!) :P

What I should have said earlier was I didn't mean fireworks during the day, but, rather, firecrackers and other noisemakers. It's all in full swing in my neighborhood as I write this.
