I had a friend who gave some sage advice a while back. I was interested in something that was a bit out of my price range. He told me to go, look at it, and if I thought it worthwhile, whip out a stack of cash and offer the guy half what he was asking. People are always tempted by greenbacks, plus that truck appears to be in great shape. I'd wrangle up $2500/cash, take it for a spin, whip out $2000 and see if he bites. Once you hit your threshold, just walk off. Nobody in his right mind is going to let 25 Benjamins slip through their fingers.

You're absolutely right. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that cash talks and bull$h! walks. I think I may have to e-mail, get the additional photos, and maybe arrange a meeting soon!

Also cool: a little digging through my photos shows that this truck is like the twin brother of the one in the 1981 sales brochure:

Cool...very clean for it's age...my Dad drove a shortbed fleetside '81 with the 6cyl (green w/ white bumpers) when he was working for Habitat for Humanity after he retired.

XP:

Dooooooo it.

What are you asking advice for? You & me should pull our

usual scam, or just bring Amanda and do the same. You

asking here what to do (Satty said exactly my policy) is

quite funny. Whip out a wad of mixed bills, let him look at

the stack of cash & say the usual:

"this is ALL my money mister"

Remember the '70 Deville? WhatItellya? You did very well

by just offering $200 less than their "FIRM", 30 sec. later.

Yeah, people aren't exactly in the market for trucks these days anyway, the seller must know this (perhaps one of the reasons for selling it). WHip out some cash and he'd be retarded to say no. I expect this in the member's ride's showcase by next week. :P
