Hey guys, I know I'm not well established on this message board anymore (I used to draw up 5th gen Camaro designs), but many of you may remember me, or recognize my name from CamaroZ28.com or LS1TECH. As a fellow GM enthusiast and fan, I'm requesting your help!

Long story short, I'm trying to get votes to get myself on the VH1 TV show the Pickup Artist.

Right now I'm in 28th place voting-wise, and could really use some votes to keep me in the running! If you'd like to help, you can vote daily at http://pickupartist2casting.com/people/SpeedRacer.

Instructions for voting:

1- click "VOTE" (written in red) above my profile picture.

2- type the ALL CAP text that matches the generated graphic.

3- click the purple vote button and you're done! No annoying popups or not safe for work material at all.

Thanks! And PLEASE tell your friends to vote for me if you will.

If you aren't familiar, the show is essentially about a guy named "Mystery" teaching 8 guys how to be more successful at talking to women. The official website summarizes it as such:

In THE PICK-UP ARTIST 2, eight misfits will live together and learn together as they compete for the title of "Master Pick-Up Artist." Over the course of eight episodes, the men will learn the ins and outs of the Mystery Method, as Mystery teaches these average guys how to turn the women of their dreams into the women of their reality.

It's not a show about teaching guys to seduce women so much as it is a show about teaching guys like me how to stop being shy, scared, or just completely awful at meeting and talking to women in public. VH1 still has all of last season's episodes online at http://www.vh1.com/video/browse/index.jhtml?id=1684 if you're interested in checking them out.

Well Brandon, just because no one replied in the thread, doesn't mean no one went to the link. Good luck.

Holy cow I remember you!

You still own both of your 4th gens?

We used to get into some battle royales over the direction the

(then only make-pretend) 5th gen's styling should go. I hope

there's no hard feelings but.... :P I told you so. In the end, GM

agreed and 1st gen. retro it is. For what it's worth your design

(I see it sprouted up on your new sig.) has aged well.

Believe it or not, you're the only person I DEFINITELY remember, because of all those battles! (The other person I remember was an incredible artist I believe named Plumcrazy on here). I'm glad you're still here! I stopped posting for a long period of time, because if I remember correctly, C&G updated in some way, and I couldn't login anymore. I tried registering again and said to myself "well, if I can't have my Brangeta name, then I just won't post here," so I'm actually very impressed my original ID and password worked when I came here to post!

You did in fact win that battle, but at least some company made a car that fulfilled my dream. Maserati's GranTurismo is BEAUTIFUL, and is everything I wished the 5th gen would be. It doesn't look particularly like my artwork, but who said I could draw anyway? LOL

The actual 5th gen is pretty attractive, but isn't completely my cup of tea. However, if it is easier to drive than the 4th gens, and comes in the proper color, I'm sure I could be tempted to buy one!

The two 4th gens are still in the family, and in fact, they were in the reader's ride section in the March 2008 issue of Camaro Performer's!

However, my car is a Corolla. No more sharing the Z28 with my sister, but it sucks having the little lame car...

There you go. :)

If you get on the show, maybe make a shameless plug or two for Cheers & Gears? :P

Of course, if they'll let me. I have a LOT of automotive friends and personal friends to thank for me climbing the ranks like I have. I don't know if they'll allow it. If they don't, and I get on the show, I'll film my own video and post it on youtube at some point :).

A few of my friends have been pointing out a voting problem to me since last night.

Based on an experiment I just did, if you click the purple "vote" button and it doesn't do anything, then click again, it tells you something along the lines of "incorrect image verification, you can only vote once every 24 hours."

Well the thing that is happening is that the "Success! you just voted for this person" message is not coming up the first time you click the purple button. It's just plain not showing up. BUT the vote is being counted the first time you click the button I believe. For safety's sake, go ahead and click it once, wait a few seconds, and then click it again and make sure you get that image verification error.

Also, I've made it to 24th place! Thank you all for the incredible support!

A few people have contacted me about the voting error, but let me reassure you that the votes are still working! If you click the purple vote button once, and nothing happens, and then you click again and it says "You can only vote for somebody once every 24 hours. Try again later! Incorrect value for image verification method." then you should consider your vote counted.

What's happening (don't read this if you don't want to get technical) is the success message isn't coming up the first time you click, and when you click a second time, the coding (javascript or otherwise) is recognizing two things. One, it knows that you've just voted, so you get the 24 hour message. And two, it 'believes' that you typed the wrong image verification, because based on its coding, it is thinking that a second image has been generated and you don't match it (because you matched the first one). Hope that's not too complicated to understand, but that's what I speculate is happening.

If you want to get around that problem, you can register on the site as a voter and login to vote instead of typing the confirmation code each time. Or, you can continue to just vote with the knowledge that your vote is indeed being counted!

Thanks again to everyone who is continuing and starting to vote. :D

I have great news today. :)

I'm now in the top 20! The producers will be selecting candidates from the top 20 when this casting period is all said and done in a few weeks. I just need to hold this position by continuing to campaign for votes, and then the rest is all on me and whether they want me to be on their show.

Thank you all for continuing to vote! I couldn't do it without you all!

Well in any case, any guy who's family owns two LS1 powered Camaros

is welcome on this forum. PlumCrazy was an incredible artist. I often

had similar ideas as his sketches but my talent to put PENCIL to PAPER

was nowhere near his.

It was always fun to see him post "just a little I whipped up on my lunch break"

That was the best part. He'd draw something in a lunch break that I couldn't draw without the car in front of me at that angle for five hours!

*Important news*

I really need your support to get me on the Pick Up Artist. They are clearing the votes tomorrow (the 8th) for Round 3 and starting everybody from scratch (zero). The voting will end on May 10th, so I only have the 8th, 9th, and 10th to get as many votes as possible.

Help me get on the show by giving me a vote each of those three days! If you have time, watch my Round 2 video and Round 3 video which should be approved by tomorrow.

This is the second to last day! Make it count by giving me a vote. I don't like spamming the forum, but when you want something so bad, you throw caution to the wind and follow your impulses. And my impulse is to win one of those 7 to 9 spots on the show!

Tomorrow will be the last day for voting.

Well, there's a vote your your way. Good Luck. :)

Thanks dude!

My final message about the Pick Up Artist show...

I didn't end up getting chosen to be on the show. No biggie. I put a lot of time and effort forth, but I'm not bitter or hurt by it.

Here is what came in my email today:

"Thanks for checking in with me. They actually have selected all of the finalist as of last Friday, I'm sorry they did not pick you as a finalist. I will definitely keep your tape and info on file so I can possibly consider you for further shows. Thank you for all of your dedication to the show and getting all of your stuff in to us and participating with the online contest! "

It would have been fun to be on there, and it would have been a great learning experience, but I probably wasn't enough of a "character" to be on the show. I'm an interesting guy, but not a wacky character like one of the guys from the site that I heard got chosen:

http://pickupartist2casting.com/people/HipsterinOwsso

I'm not sure who else filled the remaining spots.

Thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me that people would go out of their way to help me, when several of you don't even know me very well if at all. :)

If any of you would like to comment, please do.
