Hi Kids,

I'm trying to hone in my photoshop skills with various different effects. I've been running across a bunch of various logos with unique special effects (like gloss, textures, etc) and essentially recreating/modifying them. I decided I wanted to try my hand at creating a metallic look (like those used on Automotive badges) and two hours later, I finished my modified version of the Saturn logo (I decided I wanted to see what it would look like as a circle). There are a few physical design errors (like the angle of the "rings"), but what I need to see is if it looks metallic to someone who hasn't been working on it.

Thanks a bunch!

-JC :-)

Looks great however you can probably take the name out of the logo.

Being a circle would allow it to easily be swapped in, in place of this:

Edit: I'd like to see you work over all the logos. You seem to have the imagination for it.

Edit 2: I'm suddenly in the mood for fava beans and a nice chianti. brb.

Great work. I agree with Oldsmoboi about the name being taken out. Its not needed since you did such a great job incorporating the rings of Saturn into the logo.

Good job son!

Aww shucks, thanks kids!

Oldsmoboi: Chianti does sound good! Have you ever had Aziano Ruffino? Ruffino is by far my favorite Chainti, and the Aziano version is so smooth it practically melts in your mouth! And there are a few logo's I'd like GM to update. I think the classic logos such as Chevy, Buick, & Caddy are fine as is (they have been stylistically modified recently), whilst some others like Saturn, Saab, and Pontiac could do with a bit of an update.

If you would be so kind as to update Buick's logo in a way better than GM's attempt. Taking out all the color does not equal an update in my eyes.

If you could also throw us Oldsmobile lovers a bone also.... but based on something older than the most recent oval version.

I was thinking something with a 3D look to it... the shields turned slightly in place, or something like that.

I'll do my best to modify the buick one later tonight. In the meantime, here is a very light modification to Saab's logo:

Really nice work! Your Saturn logo looks great. As far as metal goes you're is quite good, just keep in mind that shiny metal has very dark areas in addition to highlights that are basically white. So the higher the contrast of grays the more it will look like metal.

You can see in the Opel logo how there's very dark areas in addition to the very light areas.

What you said makes me think of a Gay "Leave it to Beaver" that could be put on youtube. Much like "the brady bears". Have you seen that yet?

Love the new Saab logo. I like how the crown extends above the badge. That is a very cool, high quality detail. Nice work son! *Ward Cleaver smile and pat on the back* :smilewide:
