They may have been based on the Explorer, I know that they, at the very least, used Explorer running grear and even offered a supercharged (I think) version of the 5.0 the Explorer used in the late 90's.

[post="1854"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

Yeah, the 98 versions did....I went reading after I made the post, and the body and chassis was made by an Italian company called Magnum for government use. This guy who went out there decided to import the rolling chassis, install Ford drivetrains, and market them here as luxury SUVs with the name Laforza in 1989.

As I said, I went to the dealer a few weeks ago. Here are the pics...

As for my thoughts, The Impala doesn't impress me. It is just too boring and the headlights are too bolbous. It's a big, uninspiring car that will sell well... but not to me.

The Grand Prix. As I said, I took pics because of the interior. What's changed includeds: chrome accents around HVAC vents and door handles, brushed aluminum looking accents instead of silver painted, arrowhead emblem instead of "GP," toned down info center area with a passenger airbag sensor light below, revised center console, and unlocked doors. :P Okay, the last isn't a feature, but that's how I luckily got the interior shots. Also, later they added some accesories (not shown). The bigger spoiler, brushed alum grill, and the quad-tipped exhaust. It looks good... although I would have prefered the 04 wheels... just done in the same finish.

Now the GM badges. I don't like them at all. If I were to buy a new GM, the first thing that would be removed would be that stupid badge... even before dealer stickers. The placement is horrible on most vehicles and clutters up the styling. It would have looked better on the trunk...

Saw a Grand Prix GXP today while coming from work. At first when I saw it I noticed something was wrong, the nostrils was bigger than normal. Right after that instant I remember it's a GXP.

Oh, I got one for y'all: a homemade, '86ish Taurus "Ranchero", made from a red metallic station wagon, with a plywood rear cab panel (with a plexiglass window), and a '78-'87 El Camino rear bumper that was on crooked. The rear door handles were removed and the doors were sealed up.

The Today show: -first time I ever saw this: fastback Montego (I've only seen Gran Torino versions ever in my life before today) -4-door Gran Torino -spotted my first '06 Sonata -another new Quattroporte -80s Town car on modern low-profile wheels and tires

How about a v-8 powered trike?:

I saw my first '06 Impala (looks much better in person than I've seen in any picture) and '06 Malibu on the road over the weekend, and an '06 Vue (also better in person, but still not pretty). In the parking lot where I work I've seen an HHR and a new Sonata.

I saw an ION RedLine on the dealer lot today that had the new black wheels for '06. It looked good and I think the Cobalt SS S/C would look pretty cool with those rims too. I also saw an Envoy Denali.

I saw a few of those during my stay in Los Alamos, NM and I thought it might be a local builder. Where did you catch that one?

Well... Everyday I drop my Bro off for practice and afterwards drive past the dealer. As I went by, I saw an HHR... So I had to stop and take a look at it. It was in the Purple color... which I hate... dark purples look so much better. It really is alot smaller than what I expected. It looks good, though. If it weren't for the HUGE front bumper and all the chrome, I'd buy one.

XLR lookin damn good newer Porsche which I dont know the model but its low, phat and whale tailed. 93_ I assume ? G6 Sedan, looking great, what a great looking car with no rear seat headroom.

Whoa, whoa. The other day I saw a black CAVALIER with silver Toyota vinyl on the windshield and rockers that read "*Toyota Logo* TOYOTA" ...and, yes, it still had the bowtie on it. :blink:
Posted

You know the cavalier is actually sold as a Toyota in Japan, right?

[post="4318"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

But I'm sure the Toyota Cavalier was NEVER sold in North America...

Trying to counterfeit other makes or trim level is considered serious rice as well. It's just like slapping a Type-R badge on a Geo Metro.

I saw it on Hwy 40 (also known as I-64) in St. Louis, MO. It had Arkansas plates, though.

Whoa, had to put three wheels under all that booty! :o  :ph34r:

It was and is the hottest, nicest days today, one of those perfect days, just a slight breeze, not a cloud in the sky. Here are some cars I saw:

>A man in a green Dodge Caravan, picking his nose while driving. It should be outlawed, very dangerous.

>a silver Dodge Viper coupe, outrageous car

>a 40s purple Buick custom convertible

>a new Monte Carlo in the shiniest black paint and the biggest chrome wheels....I have to admit...it was a hot looking car

>that swoopy 2005 Mercedes CLS-class 4 door in silver....very arresting look to it, in motion, I see alot of them around here.

Yea their cool Harley but I have noticed if you give them a good look you find yourself or myself I shoudl say asking , why. There is some odd stuff there that is not really appealing. Perhaps that was the 66 Toronado too, not sure if I like it or hate it.

Fly, we got an '06 Malibu sedan in too, Sport Red, base LS. It looks nice, even in base form. The interior looked like it was a new color of brown/tan.

I know exactly what you mean. That car is an answer to a question no one was asking. And just an observation, do you notice how the fastback is making a quiet comeback....more and more cars, both 2 and 4 doors are going this route.

I saw a bunch of stuff tonight at dealers which I took pics of - G6 GT Coupe, 06 Malibu (base w/no options), 06 TB, 06 VUE, and another new HHR. I also saw an 06 SRX with some new wheels that I took a couple pics of. I'll start a new thread in a little while with the pics.

I've seen a couple of '06 Malibus on a truck, a ton of G6 coupes and three different colors of HHR. The Blue is very striking, the maroon is awesome, but I still LOVE that amethyst color like BV posted above. I think the car is really striking painted like that. The part of me that likes refrigerator white cars really wants to see one in Summit White. Edited by Satty

I've been thinking the same thing... bright white, with the dark windows and the chrome accents would look good, I think. I've yet to see one though.

Last night I saw two Rolls-Royces and a Maybach parked within a few feet of each other. There must have been some meeting of UNC's rich-ass alums around.

Also, I stopped by the Pontiac dealer and drove the six speed G6 GTP... a very sweet ride! There was like, no driveline lash, which can make driving a manual a jerky experience if you're not careful. PLENTY of pull from the 3.9L, and the Monsoon stereo rocks!
