From Autoblog:

We've got to give GM props on this one, since, unlike other automakers, it's blacked-out teaser isn't nearly as susceptible to Photoshop trickery. Regardless, Saab put up the image above on its media site announcing what we already knew: the Saab 9-1X concept is coming to Geneva(...)

Here's the link to the autoblog entry.

Well, keep the new products coming, Saab needs all the help it can get right now. The 9-4X is one of my favorites, I do like the 9-3 Turbo-X, and wellll, the rest of the lineup could use a little more tlc.

for a small car it looks like it has a wide track!

Definitely... it's very unique. It almost reminds me of the Peel P50, except it's much more menacing, of course...

i was comparing the track of my civic to a mid 90's explorer, the one debuting in '96. my car is just as wide or slightly wider than that explorer. I think that's a good thing in a way, definitely helps the stance of newer cars.

this car looks like it will be kick ass. saab design sense [some of the best in my book], small car, premium design. I can only hope the platform/drive live up to the name and really deliver a car that can handle as well as the current GTI or better.

And ZL-1 will soon start shagging as Geneva show nears. :P Are you gonna replace your Mini-D with this?

Looks wicked.

Hmmm... a black 9-1X with tan leather seats, steel sunroof and a hatchback... could it be the return of the Real SAAB?

:P you betcha I'll be following everything Geneva-related because of this.

Right now I have other priorities but if the 9-1 is small, fun, and Saab/Swedish-functional-and-stylish, I will definitely look into getting one in the future! I'm almost hoping it ends up being Gamma-based so it's closer to the Mini in size!

EDIT - I wonder if the X means this thing has XWD or if it is just used as an indication this is a prototype.

Looks promising! I'd be really interested in a production version because I think it would be a cool (though possibly expensive for its size) car to drive until I get a Camaro.

I don't like the proportioned based on the profile teaser shot...the front overhang is massive. Hopefully it'll look better when unmasked.

The front overhang is not that long. It's not ridiculously short like a Mini, but it's not long, either. The distance from the front wheel to the door is much longer, by comparison. This thing has RWD proportions.
