Is GM bringing Chevy to OZ sooner, rather than later?

Here are two pics of the Chevy Colorado. The 1st pic is of a current 2008 American Chevy Colorado, the 2nd pic is of a Chevy Colorado which is somewhat different from the 1st and, notice which side the steering wheel is on! It looks like it's ready to replace the Holden Rodeo. Odd very odd.

I'd imagine that's a Thai market GMT-355, where GM produces them and they have right hand drive.

It is, which is rather odd, because it originally looked just like the American Colorado (in fact half the photos on the website still have the American-style nose).

You have to question the logic of having that vehicle represent Chevrolet in new markets where GM wishes to grow the brand.

Sort of like saying " We want you to buy the junk we can't sell elsewhere".

I would imagine the Rodeo is one of the last things they'll switch to Chevrolet, unless they establish a separate dealer network (again), and offer the Chevy Colorado in one and the Holden Rodeo in the other (a la Chevy/GMC). Now GMC they've considered for Australia too.

Australians love their Holden's. I really doubt they'd be all that happy driving "Chevy's" . Maybe there's market research that proves otherwise, but a good chunk of my family drives Holden, and they've said that they would never drive a Chevrolet, just because the name has no cachet in that country, and because it's 'American' .

Well I have a feeling it will be Chevy. The last time I was in OZ, I can't tell you how many Chevy bowties on Holdens I saw there. To many to count that's for sure. Besides where will they go to, Toyota? That would be like Camino driving a Celica. Just won't happen. :AH-HA_wink:

I had very good luck with my Colorado, and I'd buy another. The current US version needs a restyling, but the Thai version is kind of blah, wimpy if you ask me.

purely looks wise, id take the US version over that other crap any day
