So, here's the big news...

Machine Head and Metallica are playing Rock in Rio Lisboa, on June 5th 2008! :metal::bowdown:

These last few years haven't been bad concert-wise: Metallica played here 2004 and again last year, I saw Tool at Super Bock Super Rock in 2006... Not bad! :AH-HA_wink:

Oh I might have to go, I love Machine Head, and it's the day after my birthday too.

I'm sure I'm able to find a place with decent Portuguese food for lunch that day in case you decide to do a fly-in/fly-out :AH-HA_wink:

You would if you worked for Saab. :scratchchin:

Saab doesn't know just how much it wants me... yet... :AH-HA_wink:

Now, since I've been doing my homework on Saab... is Jan Åke Jonsson based in Trollhättan, Göteborg, the GM Powertrain facility in Södertälje, or at the GM Norden office in Stockholm?

He is located in the Stockholm office for the Saab Automobile, located in the GM Nordic buildings in one of the suburbs. It's not very fancy.

Awesome!

Can't wait for the new MetallicA album and their impending tour. (I'll be front row again, and backstage if I can pull some strings) Wouldn't mind catching Machine Head either, I haven't heard much of their newest work, but I both own and love "Through The Ashes Of Empires"

James vocals finally sounded like they were coming around again during the "Escapre From The Studio '07" tour after 2 or 3 years of sounding like $h! in many ways. For example, he sounded excellent at the Live Earth (BOOO!) show.

2008 is going to be a great year for Metal in general; MUCH stronger than 2007 was. Disturbed just announced that they will be touring on their new release with Slipknot (also putting out a new record) and other yet to be determined bands. I'll definitely be there, front row, as always (Haven't seen either of those bands and Slipknot is in my top 5 or 10)

I feel as though I've really missed out the last couple of years because the Download Festival has had such an amazing line up. My ultimate goal is to fly over and see it. We can't have anything like that in america anymore because our culture is such trash that people can't respect each other or their environment. (Anyone remember the last big Woodstock?)

Awesome! When I was in Italy last spring, I was kinda hoping Metallica would come over somewhere nearby so I could say I saw them in Europe!

As for the new album, Bob Rock has been replaced with the guy who produced albums for Slayer and a number of other metal bands, and they FINALLY are returning to E tuning rather than E flat and dropped C (the first five albums were in E). Hopefully this will sound like a classic Metallica speed metal album. I've heard the album is supposed to come out sometime in the spring or maybe as late as summer '08. I'm on the edge of my seat because St. Anger was such as disappointment (to me) and I've been waiting for another "classic" like RLT or MOP for as long as I've been a fan of Metallica (since about '98). I'm hoping a new kick-ass 'Tallica album will reinvigorate the whole metal scene...it seems to be coming back a little, but a new Metallica album will hopefully put it front and center. I would love to see metal embraced by the mainstream again like it was 20 years ago...I'm so tired of the punk and indie scene.

Tack! I'll check it out tonight.

Well, he murdered 'The Unforgiven' but delivered an excelent performance of '...And Justice for All' last year in Lisbon. He can get his vocals back to proper Het standards as long as he does regular vocal exercises. If he can disciplin himself, he'll be fine.

EDIT - Thx for the link Mustang
