NINETY_EIGHT_REGENCY contributed a lot to the forums, and I liked his more personal posts as well. He is missed. He can be found now on one of the Oldsmobile forums out there.

Agreed. :)

I too miss Landis (98Regency) around here. When I joined 2 or 3 years ago, he was a daily poster and I always enjoyed reading his insight. I still have the Oldsmobile video tapes that he was sending out and was nice enough to include me at the last minute. 98, if you're reading this, please come back!!!

Yeah I've missed his non-auto article posts as well-did he leave solely because of the shutdown? And he included me in the tapes as well, I still have them-haven't watched them in a while, but I still remember that one day back in first GCC semester in 2002 when they came in the mail, how excited I was.

No one really, we're all just going to pick up the slack. I don't know if anyone noticed or not (and this isn't taking anything away from 98's posts) but a lot of his topics never got a reply anyways. I don't think we'll have a shortage of news because everyone is going to pitch in (everyone being the mods in particular, but obviously members can post topics too) and pick up the slack.

I miss 98 a lot.

In fact, when he sent the PM to the moderators about leaving (And make no mistake, he is gone for good) I replied with a sincere thank you to his e-mail. This site wouldn't have enjoyed nearly the success it has without Landis' tireless contributions. I still remember in 2001 when I found him at GM Forums, along with Scott and Croc, and invited him to the site, he was such a joy to post with.

Actually it kinda pissed me off that certain members of the administrative team brushed off his leaving like it was nothing. In my opinion it was a sad day for Cheer and Gears.

That WAS one of the main appeals of C&G. People come to one site to see ALL types of news from everywhere. I know I enjoyed it and I'm sure others read the posts even if they didn't comment.

P.S. No Need for confidentiality now from me, since I've apparently been kicked off the administrative team. Edited by FUTURE_OF_GM

Why're all Staff Members in the 'Admin' group now? Will there be set Moderators like before, or just Admins?

Having more Admins gives us the ability to have more control of the forums if there is only one of us on and there is a problem. We were already all close to being Admins anyways by being Global Mods.

98 regency seemed like a good guy...I'm not sure, I never communicated with him...but a lot of his posts were mostly news...Every morning when I woke up I clicked on view new topics and got a list of threads started by 98...some of them were good reads, the majority of them were too long, and for the most part they never got replies...I also noticed he tended to post a lot of repeat threads and a lot of garbage from AutoLies...

I didn't realise that he'd actually left the site- I thought he'd just gotten bumped like everybody else and hadn't signed back on yet. It's too bad.

It is pretty sad that he left. He was pretty committed to this forum, always making sure to post new articles and links. Thanks 98.

I miss him too. He started a lot of interesting conversations with his GM retrospective topics in the Lounge. What struck me most about him was his huge heart. I think he is on oldsmobileforums.com now.

He never seemed to post anything other than news... Every once in a while he would, though, but not like he used to. He was actually one of the first members to interact with me. He was nice and made me feel welcome. He'll be missed, for sure... Although, I'm surprised he stayed around as long as he did being that GM killed his brand. I doubt I'd be here if Pontiac became the victim of GM's senseless killing.

I think what turned Landis off was a certain member that is no longer with us. Somebody with a little bit of hard "edge" to him/her. I won't get into it, but I've received many e-mails and concerns in the past. I also did like 98. I truthfully think he should return as well.

I remember on the old forums (like old forums...before the March 2004 redesign) when I posted my first drawing concept of a Grand Marquis. I wasn't getting very many comments, but he gave me some good constructive criticism and was one of the first members at C&G that really stood out to me. It's too bad he's moved on...he was a good guy and I always enjoyed him taking the time to post all those articles.

And the BIG problem with C&G right now is lack of news. No one gets up earlier than 98 and me. Hmm.... My allegiance has been broken until I get two apologies.

I, too, miss Ninety Eight. I never really noticed him around the forums, though. Only when posting news and in the Olds forum. He's a great guy and always talked to me nicely and sincerely on AIM on occassion. He'll be missed around here. Damn, I feel like this is a funeral concession...

As an "Old Guy", I can tell you that people will come and go throughtout your life. If they are a positive infleunce in your life, they will be with you forever. Nintey-Eight will be with most of us forever. However, it wouldn't hurt to put his name somewhere on the site (Oldsmobile Forum - Dedicated to "Nintey-Eight Regency") or (some other mention). How about a Ninety-Eight Regency skin for Oldsmobile fans? That way when some new member asks .... Who is 98 Regency, we can bring him back in a thread telling who he was and what he did for us. It wouldn't hurt to have the site named "Walter Keegan's Cheers and Gears" or "Cheers and Gears by Walter Keegan". Just my two centavos.
