Concept Preview: Chrysler ecoVoyager

Chrysler has released sketches today of three eco-minded concepts it will be unveiling at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January, and the first we'll tell you about is the Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept. The ecoVoyager Concept appears to be a series hybrid, much like the Chevy Volt or Ford Airstream Concept, that uses a lithium-ion battery pack for jaunts of 40 miles or less and a hydrogen fuel-cell range extender to reach distances up to 300 miles away. Power is expected to be in the range of 200 kW total, which Chrysler claims is good for reach 60 mph in around eight seconds. The exterior features an extreme cab forward design creating an arch profile with flowing character lines coming from the front and back that intersect on the sides. The interior design is described as being like a luxury jet, though no images of the concept's innards have been released yet. We'll have to wait until we meet the ecoVoyager Concept in person come January to tell you more, but for now gaze upon Chrysler's first of three concepts that's slated for introduction on the biggest stage of the year.

So Chrysler looks at all of the technologies currently in development by everyone else, combines them altogether into one car, draws a sketch, and makes a press release out of it?

3 cool concepts, give me hope for Chrysler's future. Each of them is very nicely distinct from each other. The Voyager name is too good not to resurrect.

For those complaining that they're only sketches... give them a break. They will debut at the Detroit show... why show more than a sketch at this point? This is a message that Chrysler is not dead.

They look promising, although the Chrysler does remind me of a Cadillac from the front..still it doesn't look like the Sebring and that's a good start.

I'm confused... I thought this was a Chrysler? Well.. where is it? all I see is an Elantra with a mushed Cadillac fascia grafted on...

Atleast the Dodge Neo and Jeep Renegade look unique and certainly cool, especially the Neo.

Why is Dodge showing a low-slung passenger wagon concept when Dodge is possibly going truck/commercial vehicle only? It just shows how undecided management is about the future product line and the brand's direction.

All I have to say to the critics is GET A LIFE!!!

These concepts look better then any modern piece of crap out now. Give Chrysler credit as most of their concepts make it to production without much change.

They just announced that the PT cruiser is dead after announcing that it wsn't dead (only the convertabile was dead) after announcing that the wagon was dead. On the other hand they are going through a lot of turmoil after being a a German owned shadow of its former self and now being a privately held company.

I personally find the front end ugly. I think the "Cadillac style" front ends are the ugliest in the business, worse than alot of the much maligned Japanese cars...

Cadillac front ends are NOT the way to go. At least it is "ONLY A SKETCH".

I didn't pick up on them being sketches of actual concepts that will be revealed later. Sketches of actual concepts = cool. I just get frustrated when all that exists of concepts exists in the virtual realm.
