Went up to the new LaCrosse/Allure at a dealership and am having trouble digesting the new 2008 grille, and I was really looking forward to a freshening. Looking at nearby Lucernes, I thought the grille would be much nicer and subtler if "blacked out" as it is on the larger vehicle. At the very least, they should offer both versions. I voted for that option in the poll.

The front of the Lacrosse is a little too shiny. A black chrome grille would be better. The base Lucerne CX has the fully chrome grille, and it suffers for it. Even better would be a slightly smaller grille that didn't look so much like an afterthought.

Yes. It's overpowering in its shininess (is that a word?). And afterthought is a good moniker...it certainly doesn't integrate well with the more subdued lines of the rest of the vehicle.

I still think the grille does fine in bringing the LaCrosse into line with the rest of Buick's lineup. It will do fine until the new midsize car (hopefully not called LaCrosse) arrives in model year 2010. I do think customers should have their choice of black or chrome finishes (I would make the black standard since the chrome finish seems to freak people out). I don't think any additional funds should be invested in this car to design another new grille with a new model just two model years away; GM doesn't have the additional money to waste on further changes for this car. It could also save money by reversing the decision to change the Lucerne's grille, the current one looks fine and fits in with Buick's new look as is.

I find the grille to be overpowering and too large. They went from too small and wimpy to garishly oversized. I would much rather have seen the grille slightly enlarged with the choice of black or chrome and a new hood design and headlights. When uncle Bob and GM finally see the light and figure out that copying Lexus bland styling or rather lack of styling, will never win over buyers. Buick has to do more. They not only need best in class reliabilty but also Buick expressive designs and interiors that offer something unique and American to consumers. I expect to see port holes, bodyside moldings and nice curves to the fenders or doors etc to set these vehicles apart from the Asian copycat blah designs.

I like Buick's new family grille. I think the grille would look better if the rest of the car would have been redesigned and didn't look so disproportionate. I've never been a fan of the LaCrosse and there's nothing Alluring about it. I'm hoping the complete redesign fixes all of these.

I personally loved the original LaCrosse grille... I say keep the grille as it is on the 2008s on the CXL, CXS, Black grille as per 2007s but a bit bigger on the CX, and a blacked out mesh design on the Super... That'll turn some heads!
