Chevy Volt on Tour

General Motors is taking the much-acclaimed and anticipated Chevrolet Volt on tour to four cities across the US. So far, Boston and Miami have been announced, but stay tuned and we'll let you know where the other two stops are as soon as we find out. In the meantime, if you're in the Boston area this weekend, why not check out the Volt in person and tell us what you think of it? Share your photos, too!

Me and the girl will definitely be in Boston tomorrow in the late afternoon (5:00ish) to take a look at the Volt and snap a few photos!

As promised, here are a few photographs from my visit to the Volt at Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market in Boston:

The most interesting part of the visit was that my girlfriend and I were let inside the ropes the car was behind when it was discovered by one of the GM representatives that we were from the town next to his home town! While the rest of Boston had to stand outside the ropes, we were allowed to walk around the car up close with the GM rep and get an in-depth explanation of the car's features, and even touch the car and open the doors ourselves! The coolest feature of the car by far, in my opinion anyways, were the printed circuits in the glass roof that controlled OnStar and a host of the car's other features (third photograph). He then interviewed me on camera to be used with a series of other interviews he had done throughout the weekend for research on people's reactions and the like. All in all a very cool experience. I'm glad the General picked Boston as the first stop on their tour with the Volt.

Great pictures and story. This is cool looking for an alternative drive train vehicle. It has a futuristic appearance without looking like an awkward space pod. It makes the EV1, Insight, and Prius look increasingly pitiful.

The question is how much modifications will be made to the exterior and interior before production starts?? There is no way GM will release the Volt as is.

From the look of this concept, there is not enough shared parts to keep costs down. Plus, we all know how GM tends to really water down concepts to production.

The Solstice is a great example of just how little watering down GM is capable of when moving a concept to production. They replaced a lot of parts with bits from the parts bin, but the final car looks almost the same, if not better, than the concept.

But oh yes, the Volt is going to have a lot of changes. I'd like to see it keep those wacky windows, though.
