In the last 3 weeks, many of my friends/acquaintances have bought new cars. The friend who had been driving an '87 Corolla (his wife's but she made him drive it) bought a new Elantra (which is now his wife's, he gets the Cherokee). My boss recently bought a new Mustang coupe, which made me jealous. Another friend replaced her 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse, totally an exciting move there. A co-worker recently bought a Focus, most impressive thing about that is he paid sticker.

All of this has led me to catch new car fever (still want an Edge, though a red Mustang convertible has my eye), I need to find a cure that doesn't involve buying a new car.

Placebos, or in layman's terms, multiple test drives work quite well I find :P.

My sister and her husband have been taking that approach, first trying to get rid of his F-150 for a Silverado, that fell through when the dealership wouldn't give him close to fair value for his truck, shopping around discovered that local Chevy dealerships will not give a reasonable trade offer for an F-150. Then they've been looking at Mustangs and Wranglers to replace the Rendezvous, which is more car than they need. So far my immediate family has resisted, even though my dad really needs a new car and is quite enamored with the HHR.

*sighs*

I know the feeling.

In the last year, my parents have purchased an '06 Cobalt, my sis bought an '07 Dodge Dakota manual transmission quad cab, and a few friends have bought new cars as well.

I'm kinda getting the itch, too.

But, I don't really want the payments ;).

sticker on a focus? they have been selling for 4500 off list here. 145 sticker for 10 grand.

Yeah, he told me he paid like $15k, I was expecting a loaded SES with leather, and all that other good stuff. Nope, SE with a stick and wheel covers. No ABS, no Audiophile, no side impact bags, nothing.

My wife just bought a Dodge Magnum R/T, and though I was a bit hesitant at first after 18,000K I can truly say I am TOTALLY impressed. Worth every penny.

New car fever, it's in our blood. It cannot be stopped. I built my '08 Mustang GT last night, and my '08 G6 GXP coupe the night before. I wish I had money, I'd have me a hot car to compliment my Sierra... I am wishing so hard for a Solstice fastback coupe.

There is a blue GT convertible just down the row from the red V6 that I really want. The added $10k for the GT, plus the extra insurance really doesn't seem worth it.
