I must admit I was a little nervous entering this thread :P

Love that old gas pump, but it seems like it's in the middle of a field

Haha, not quite a field, but a yard. It's next to an old garage. But there used to be one in the middle of the woods across the road from my house. No lie. :P

The photos are very telling about the area where he lives. It shows history, and life from an era long since past. He managed to bring an interesting perspective to the images. Some of them remind me of some of the movies we all have seen.

Very good sir.

Good photos. Funny you post pics of the bulging Solstice headlight, as I was transfixed by that same design element on one in the showroom while I was getting my truck serviced a couple of weeks ago. I like how it's squared-off at the top outer corner, then round everywhere else. Edited by ocnblu

Great shots! The gas pump if very Americana style. You should explore this more as a career, at least freelance and make some extra money.

I loev the photo of the gas pump... cool patina.

The Solstice's headlights do not bother me, that's a function of

almost any-semi-flush mounted headlight... it will have a bulge

to accomodate the reflector & bulb. However these are all just

gross, non-sensical and completely unaerodynamic.

Posted Image

I'm wondering if it's a function of having the side marker visible

from all angles... in which case we here in the USA need to just

take on the European standards and incorporate a side marker

into the front fender between the door and wheelwell... those

are not nearly as lame and puke-inducingly ugly.

The bulge is there so they dont have to have a separate light on the side, it saves money vs. a side marker and complies with regulations worldwide. Less money+less complexity=we're stuck with it, for better or for worse.

Yeah... that's what the bean counters will tell us.

Good thing the Camaro's designers did not give

that car such a gross & ungainly design flaw.

You seem to be very accepting of modern cars'

shortcomings, I'm the exact opposite... I do NOT

like to settle for ugly, mediocre or disproportinate

designs. if we all had a "oh, F-it... good enough"

attitude I think everyone would drive one of two

cars: Camry & "Camry with rear door delete".

Better not look too closely at the Camaro concept's interior IMO.

LOL

I like the model the best, cool lookin pic.

Transfixed, is not the word I would use for myself. I find the Solstice's headlight bulge just as bad as any other headlight bulge. I much preferred the concept's flush headlights.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Randomness is my specialty. :P

Look closer, even the Conceopt has a bulge... it's more subtle but it's there!

There's a difference between having a bulge and having the headlight shape follow the body lines. If there weren't, everything from an XLR to an Aveo would be classified as having a bulge.

Well stated.

Everything with modern composite bulbs...

my '59 Buick does not have oversized glass pimples no matter what the definition.

& a new Camry:

Here's a 2008 Impala SS: (no better, quite possibly worse)

I submit this Evidence that the Solstice is not a big "bulge" ofender!

You have a one track mind. Bringing you're Buick into this and posting a massive load of pictures = Thread hijacked. As well, this thread was about more than just headlight bulges, in case you couldn't tell.

Whatever. It's the lounge.... chillax.

The Pontiac Solstice is an exquisite little car... just a beauty. I'd love for it to influence future Pontiacs.

I prefer headlights that run with the lines of the car not bulge out needlessly...the Solstice is an exception, but at the same time the Sky's flush mounted lights look better, IMO.

In an attempt to steer the thread back on course, BV, have you ever worked with 35mm film such as TMax, or do you prefer solely digital cameras?

Digital cameras offer much less hassle to go through, what without needing to develop film and such. I do have a 35mm camera around here somewhere... A Kodak Advantix, I think. I haven't used it in over 4 years, to say the least. :P

I also prefer the ease of use of a digital camera, and if you've got a high megapixel one the photos can look very high quality. However if you like taking photos you should deffinately give 35mm a try...not so much color but Black and White. Like I said, teh clarity and sharpness you get from it is amazing. If you're fortunate enough to be able to learn to develop and print it too (I took Photo I last semester) it's a very rewarding experience.

I used an Olympus IS-20 for that class, although I have a very old Minolta too.

I need a new digicam like yesterday. :P
