Expensive option, public lost interest, and it was dropped...

Night Vision camera in the centre of the grille, the image was projected via HUD onto the windshield.

Doesn't another luxury car have this now? Mercedes-Benz S/CL-classes maybe?

BMW has a NightVision option on 5-series and up. Not sure how much it costs.

I didn't know BMW did that, it was dropped on the Deville DHS/DTS after the 2005 model-year run. No it did not return on the DTS nor Lucerne. It was a 2,500 dollar option as I recall.

There was an older couple in my hometown with this on their DeVille. I never got a chance to ask them how it worked, but they only had the car for about a year before the got rid of it.

We've owned two Cadillac Deville DTS models both with Night Vision, a 2001 and now a 2005. We're very impressed with how the system works and, in fact, it was one of the determining factors in our current car purchase. We have occasion to travel to Florida and use some pretty dark out of the way routes and it really makes a difference. We've seen deer on the side of the road that we wouldn't have seen until we were almost on them. In my opinion this is/was a great system that GM just didn't promote correctly. To answer a previous question, the cost was $2,250. It was discontinued early in the 2005 model year. I hear rumors that GM may come out with a newer form of Night Vision and I hope they do because it really is an additional safe driving feature.
