My new car. I have been looking awhile for something in excellent shape that was already done. SO I can just drive and enjoy. Intailly I wanted a Trans Am (NOT GTA) with the silver GFX but not too mnay 350s in that combo were made. So I expanded my search to include Formulas.

And although it has T-tops--that was not my ideal option but since the rest of the car is so perfect I decided that I can overlook them.

Drove it from Chicago to Calgary, Alberta.

89 Formula 350--most of the usual options.

Was rebuillt with:

Edlebrock Aluminum E-Tec 170 heads

SLP Runners

SLP Headers (dual cat)

Borla exhaust

TPIS ZZ9 cam

1.6 Gold Cranerockers

Custom software

700R4 rebuilt with the usual parts+ 2400 B&M holeshot

Rebuilt 9 bolt 3.27

Subframe connectors, Hotchkiss Strut bar and TDS wonderbar have been added along with all poly bushings. KYB GR2 Struts as well.

The paint and body are mint conditon due to alot of time and effort spent doing the job right. PPG Artic white BTW

I even have T-top shades!! I never head of them on a third gen before.

The ridiculous Intrax springs (2" drop fr 1.6 rear...?) are being taken out. It's just too low unless the world had perfect roads.

The car is very fun to drive. It has mountains of torque and revs higher then a stock TPI too. The cam gives the car a bit of a lumpy idle and the exhaust has a deep note.

Holy Crap! An 80's Firebrid that has a clean engine bay, isn't missing tailights, doesn't have rust, and no puke/blood/liquor/ketchup stains in the interior!

Very Nice!

Looking good. Paint her up in Yellow Pearl.

I had a lot of fun in my 3rd gen. Firebird.

My 350 was carburated & bought as a

truck crate motor brand new out of a GM

dealer after the car was saved from the

jnukyard with a blown 305. By the time I

sold it it had about 195K miles on the

body & about half that on the 350 crate.

What was the process you had to go through, to get your car across the border? I think that whole process would be interesting to know in case anyone else wanted to do it.

:wub: I love that car! And CLEAN! Somebody loved that car. Congratulations! I have a huge soft spot for a third gen, and you may have just pushed me over the edge...my wife and kids need a good car to carry them around this summer that gets good mileage...a third gen may be just the ticket!

do it!! 3rds are my fav.....graet looks, good interiors and good handlling. Doesn't take to much to get more HP out of the TPI either and parts are reasonable.

well to from USA to Canada is easy. There are two camps---newer then 15 years and older then 15 years.

I have not done the newer then 15 years. More papaerowrk and more money!!

For 15 years and older:

fax the border crossing a completed bill of sale and the title--at least 72 hrs prior to crossing.

US border agents look at the VIN on the car and let you go.

Canada Customs does not even look at the car---they just want 6% GST+ 100 for AC.

The you need an out of province inspection doen and your good to go get it registered.

Easy as cake

Love that style of car so how many poines is she good for (roughly) 325 maybe... Do a burn-out for me.

I don't really know how much hp...even modded, I think the TPI system is holding it back. It was a lower rpm torque based (strong midrange too) fuel injection system. High rpm peak HP is not it's thing.

But 235 hp was stock (at the crank) so maybe 310?

I'll get it dyno'd next year.

got my decal package from Phoenix Graphics put on. Breaks up the white a bit and makes big difference, IMO. 2-Formula decals front and rear bumpers, 3 Firebird symbols on the nose and sail panels--plus the ones you can see.

next, new rims! :AH-HA_wink:

Seriously, it's a really good looking car. The white body with those rims and the decal package really make it look good.

Very cool, cleaner than 99% of them.

Makes me want another F-body... :spin:
