Today I was driving home from work getting off at Jordan Creek Parkway, which runs through the heart of upper-middle class suburbia in West Des Moines. I was in the lane to the left and zooming up beside me was a gouge-my-eyes-out bright orange Honda Civic, with white American Racing wheels, body kit, small wing, tint, altezza headlights, fart can...the whole works. His car sounded like a weedwacker on steroids. But the best part was that the guy had orange vinyl graphics covering the width of the window that boldly said "All Show, No Go."

At least the guy was honest!

While I was looking for a good rice picture, I came across this....nice 1987 Honda...that's the Civic with the 5.0, right?

Actually a lot of Japanese cars are faster than a lot of American cars, but riced Hondas are seldom faster than a Schwin.

Mustang 5.0 = great value for a modern day muscle car.

I wish I had SOMETHING positive to say about Honda

but every one I've driven has failed to really excite me.

There's nothing wrong with making a decent econobox,

but do not try to put lipstick on a pig like Ricers do.

As far as this thing goes I'm at a loss for words. There's

a 3rd gen. Camaro running around here with a Ford

blue oval glued to the front bumper cover, and there's

also a few other such frankensteins with Japanese cars

with bowties or whatever. Super lame.

I always thought they were neat.... that does not mean I'd rearrange my life

just to own one, like I did w/ the B-59 or Super 88 or even my beater Caddy.

I did have a fascination with the CRX for a while, but then I actually saw a

CRX's intake & emissions hose cluster at the junkyard & it made my freekin'

head spin around. Honda in it's infinite wisdom engineered about 17 miles of

metal (EGR/evap) pipes that circle around the intake like in an M.C. Escher

painting that has been projected through a keleidescope.

I have more respect for Fiat than I do for Honda, & that's saying something!
