Who uses top tier gas ( toptiergas.com ) GM, Toyota and BMW among other created a standard for fuel to clean the engine. I use it and can tell a difference it has to meet the criteria on all Octane levels. Top tier gas gives me better acceleration and a smoother running engine also slightly better MPG.

I do sometimes but I dont go out of my way to find a station that has it. If I get to Kwik Trip and need gas then I will get some of the top tier gas.

Top Tier has nothing to do with octane, and everything to do with cleanliness, additives, and sponsorship, I think.

I've heard that most gas brands often have 'cleaner' fuels on the top octane rating only: the opening post states the 'cleanliness' is on all octane ratings.

They called their agreed-on standard "Top Tier" and published it for the various gasoline retailers to voluntarily meet. So far, eight companies currently sell gas that meets the Top Tier standard. You can read about them at www.toptiergas.com. At some point there will also be a Top Tier logo on the pumps like the one pictured here. For a company to receive the Top Tier seal, it has to certify every grade of fuel, not just the high-octane stuff.
