With decent performance numbers, real-world usability and competitive pricing, the Spec V comes closer to the magic SE-R formula than we anticipated, given its size. The only real obstacle facing the Spec V is the fact that its arched roof line and tall profile scream "frumpy commuter car" much louder than its low-profile tires and semi-sporty exhaust note declare it an official sport compact.

Nissan tells us that about 10 percent of Sentra sales have traditionally been SE-R models, and the high-intensity Spec V has comprised the majority of that number. SE-R enthusiasts are clearly a dedicated crowd, and we'll see if they start hanging wings and spoilers on the Spec V or get used to crossing over to its newly adult personality.

Actually I look at a lot of new cars closely...and their paint finish is just like that...reminds me of a fridge

Good God, man you'll bitch about anything Japanese won't you? At least most guys here have an "off" (or "low") switch for that.

Ugh, the Nissan DNA needs to be stripped from that car. Those styling cues may work on the Altima but definitely not on the Sentra.

In normal trim the Sentra looks good for an economy car, IMO. It does not look "sporty" or "fast" and no amount of styling add-ons will change that. Nissan should have designed the car with the SE-R in mind.

He raises the valid point that subcompact, small, and compact cars still have rather pronounced orange peel, most notably Asian-manufactured ones. Compare a Cobalt to an Aveo or this Sentra to a US-built Accord. There is really no excuse for it. The two new NA-built cars we purchased in recent memory had very little to no orange peel.
