The Monza was a coupe version of the Senator, both introduced in 1978. The previous large coupe was the Commodore (also a sedan) which ran until 1977. The previous Vectra nee Ascona coupes were the 3-door Calibra (1989-1997) and 2-door Manta (1970-1975 and 1975-1988), however rwd Asconas wre also available in a 2-door body, alongside the 2-door Manta and 3-door Manta CC (1975-1988).

Oh, I almost forgot about the Manta. Those were some of my childhood favourites as well! On a funny side note, I remeber the story about the Ascona being renamed Opel 1604 in Portugal, because the final 4 letters of the original name are not office talk for a part of a woman's anatomy :lol:

Yeah, that's what I meant.

you sure? i think griff is talking about the inlet duct on the fascia and you are talking about the vette-like character line on the door extending into the quarter panel. there is no fake duct/extractor on the door. or, maybe im confoosed. either way, i like both treatments. the door line gives the car a sense of forward motion while still and the faux duct, or something else, is necessary to fill that part of the fascia left open by the vertical design aspects.

for reasons i cannot determine, the design as a whole says bugatti to me. i know it sounds absurd and there are no styling cues to back up my dementia, but that car, with the trademark grille, would be suitable as an "entry level" bugatti to me.

bottom line, bring that car here largely intact with the 6 speed, AWD and the turbo on the 3.6 and saturn can have my aura back in trade. :)
