Computer names?

Anyone here with interesting names for their computers..i.e. other than the IP address, giving it a hostname? It's kind of a computer geek thing, I think...friends of mine name their computers after things like sci fi characters, Star Trek characters, places in the Lord of the Rings movies, etc... when I set up my current home network about 5 years ago I went the naming scheme of vintage GM car names that end in 'A'... as I've added computers, I've added names... my network now consists of Ventura, Catalina, Electra, Invicta, Impala, and Omega.

Me here. Each network domain of mine is a brand. I used Oldsmobiles for my dad's office, and Pontiacs for my own. My desktop is called G6-GTP, my laptop SOLSTICE, and a server as VIBE (currently offline). I'm soon in the process of renaming my Virtual Machines.

I've also used Opels for wireless APs. My wireless network here is called Astra, and another one is Zafira.

I think my network's name is 'Butters'

I called my old one Aegis. This one I don't have a name for. A car name would be stupid I think. I'll just call it "pwnage"

One of my reports at work gave a few machines on our network names inspired by greek mythology. I didn't care that they were just development VM's, he changed them shortly after I saw them in the network neighbourhood.

I had wanted to do this at my job but it never materialized. After I was transferred into my current group I was ready to set up a server farm for our department and give them names like IMPALA, CHEVELLE, MONTECARALO, BELAIR, etc. (I had carried along with me a Linux server called CORVETTE). I was shot down by someone else in the group who wanted to give the machines a name that described their function (i.e. WEB, PRINT, FILE, etc.). I had said that wasnt''a good idea because, well, a hacker coming across a machine with a name like that a) already has an idea of what content is on the machine and b) already knows how to hack it. Other people in the group agreed, but this other person threw a hissy fit and walked out of the room.

My PC is named "pwnz". Mainly, for lack of a better name.

To follow the theme, I named my laptop "pwnztop".

This guy really need a bad lesson on network security, and a swift kick in the nuts.
