I haven't shot an actual gun, I was wondering what a nice hand gun would be. Someone told me to go with a 9mm, Im a big guy so Im not concerned about being knocked down or anything. Just something with a little power that qould be good for target shooting. I wanted a H&K for the longest time, still do, but looking at maybe a Glock now, their supposed to be great and cheeper than the H&K too! Any suggestions?

9mm is fine... I was taught to handle a firearm by an ex-military cop

who was one of my closest friends at the time, good to learn.

I like GLOCKS but many HATE them.

My view on Glocks

A POS that Jams when you need it most.

Give me a price range then i can tell you some options.

Around 4 to 5 hundred. Give or take, I will spend more if I can justify something being that much better.

Im real into the HK USP .45, I think thats what it was, but its too much for me right now. If they had something around 500 maybe in the 600 range I could go for it. Im thinking about a 9mm, like I said, I have never shot a gun so Im not sure what to expect. So something with some kick, just not enough to throw it out of my hands! :) Oh, Im not into revolvers.

if you want some punch that will rock you but wont throw you check into .357 There fun! Springfield XD's they are kinda ugly but very nice guns right around 470-520.

http://www.impactguns.com/store/706397865757.html or the 9mm version. 357 is a lot more funner gun.

now that I shot one. They are very nice precision guns for the price. However i haven't done my full test to them but for your needs it will exceed them. Because I carry one everyday so i put it through some tough tests. but its a very nice pistol.

http://www.impactguns.com/store/springfiel...57_pistols.html heres some different variants of it.

HK's are very nice guns but expensive and rather overkill if you are just going to destroy some paper targets. but If you want one go for it there very nice guns. I mean really nice guns.

http://www.impactguns.com/store/023614629948.html i have 2 of these and they are very nice. I think the best gun i have ever owned.

But Guns are all personal opinions. If you want a Glock no one will stop you. You will probably like it very much. There are millions of choices. Go for what you want not what I or any one else says to get. I do maintain though i have shot more guns then most people know exist. If you find one you like just post a link and I will tell you a little about it.

I look down upon scoped pistols. its like trying to shoot with Parkinson's. plus pistols affective range isnt that much. normaly with in 30 yards. However i can use one accurately at 60+. Study your ballistics my boy and "roll your own".

Besides its a Rifle concept that never worked. The HK G11 was sweet in concept but to many working parts to be Combat ready" the bullets where placed perpendicular to the barrel. so theres a lot of mechanical devices to position it in the barrel. But how its designed there is no recoil.

Well I went with the Springfield XD 9mm. Only shot 100 rounds through it so far, but Im happy! Thanks a bunch everyone, especially capriceman.

Personally, I find rubber bands with either nuts or washers attached to be highly effective weapons.

I have either a machette, or a baseball bat in every car i own. Hidden within arm's reach.

Honestly I'm waiting to the day some #@^&$ tries to car jack me.

In the Datsun I have a baby aluminum baseball bat in the back seat and a couple

baseballs... (I hate baseball) if push come to shove and I break some would be mugger's

*#&$% head open like a walnut in a vise.... it is very innocent, just a child's bat.

but let's get real my machette and or bat would not come out if a firearm is shown by the

other party.... real life aint like hollywood, bullets don;t always end up in a shoulder.
