"According to the MT sources, the only visual differences will be a roofline about 3/5ths of an inch higher than concept, and an overall width reduction of about a third of an inch."

21-inch wheels and tires are going to be ridiculously expensive.

I'm also not so sure they're correct with the 3.9 being standard. I think it's quite apparent with the new introductions that the 3.9 has been rendered useless.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that either. Ed Peper said there will be two V6 models, so I'm guessing the 3.6 and the 3.6 DI. He said one of the V6 models would be higher-performance, so that's why I say 3.6 DI.

Those will probably be the top optional wheel. I'm sure the base wheel will be something like a 16 or 17.

Agreed on the 3.9. IIRC someone here or on Cz28 said that GM is not going to bother certifying Zeta for the 3.9L. The HV family looks to be on its way out.

I'm amazed they would offer 21s...I would think they'd top out at 18 or 19 inch...I wonder if the production car will have smaller wheelwell openings than the showcar...17s would look small on there, I think..

Only a complete retard would say a dimension like 3/5 of an inch! fifths? duh!

No, I think an engineer might say that..though I would expect it to be in millimeters.

No, an engineer would pretty much only talk in millimeters. Not fifths of an inch.

You know we live in an "English" system. An American engineer would "most probably" say three-fifths of an inch.

No he wouldn't. :P

as an engineer, I've never said, or heard anybody say 5ths. 1/4's, 1/8, etc yes, 1/5ths no.

all the part drawings i've seen in the auto industry are all metric anyway

To make it simpler, 3/5 of an inch is 0.6 inches.

But agreed about it being metric...everything I did I school was in metric, so I would assume in industry (even in the US) it would be in metric.

I would have thought they would have made the roof a couple of inches higher, though...at least make the windshield tall enough to see out of and provide headroom for adults..

That is awesome. Good to see GM not cost cutting like they used to. If the production car is as close as they say...well I may finally buy a Chevy :P^_^

I wonder how close the interior will be and if it'll have the corporate stereo or it's own unique thing?

3/5's of an inch would be very close to 15mm

if it comes out with the 3.9L, hopefully they do something to pull more horses out of it than the 233 the impala gets

Of course that's correct: inches have never been divided into fifths. "3/5ths of an inch" is professionally ridiculous.

everything I did I school was in metric

thank God 95% of everything I did in school was in English measurements- which I now use everyday. All housing/plumbing/utilities plans & tool settings are in English. I would've initially been F'ed otherwise.

It finally occured to me that this (inches being divided into fifths) was the basis for the disagreement. I agree, inches in fifths is wrong!

I got this from a friend from down under. He is a Pontiac owner and loves american cars.

I did ask if he had any phots to send and if I get them I will post. Otherwise start watching as they are being seen.

Aus quote

"I wouldn't exactly call them Pontiac "upgrades" as the SS is pretty much being introduced as is but with Pontiac badging and cosmetic changes. Call them something more like modifications or Pontiacisation. It is a nice looking car. It is splattered all over the motoring press here.

On the Camaro, it will be using the same platform and the pics we are seeing of it over here show it to be pretty true to the concept. They are looking at releasing it here as well as the new Monaro"

I've got that warm, fuzzy feeling again. Before we know it these cars will be

rolling out of the factory and into people's driveways like and the world will

be a better, more exciting and happer place to live!
