What do you guys think Chrysler should do with the next PT Cruiser? Rumor has it that it will lose all retro style and look like any other CUV in its next gen.

I think that with everygen, it should be styled in a new decade. This one is supposed to look like a 40's car? Well, the next gen should have 50's styling. and so on.

Chrysler should keep the same basic styling and dimensions, but update the powertrains, chassis, and interiors.

Or they could just look to BMW's Mini brand and update the PT in that fashion. They did supply the 1.6L engine in it you know.

Grille need to be more VERTICAL and thin, not lame and horizotal like a modern car.

The PT either needs to be MORE retro or not at all. I say MORE retro.

Some inspiration:

Culminating in 2017 when they can make a 1957 Fury lookalike two door with B-pillar delete and 4 power windows!!!

I say that they make the interior very 50's, make 2 distint headlight units on each side of the exterior, throw a lot more chrome on it, and make the grill more sleek.

O yeah...more bold interior colors.

I betcha it will have style quotes with the upcoming Dodge 'JC49' crossover. Maybe it's a replacement or something like that?

I think the Dodge CUV is going to be bigger than that, this thing is more the size of a Caliber...I can see the rising beltline making it, if Chrysler decides to go modern instead of retro.

Just stretch the current body on top of the Calibers mechanicals. There's no reason to mess around much with the styling, though the interior could use an update.

HHR will own the market if DCX takes away the RETRO-NESS of the PT!! I would like to see them go further back in styling for the next one into the 1930's. I agree with sixty8panther on this they should do a more upright thin grill and give it truely ROUND HEADLIGHTS on the ends of those pontoon finders! :D

How about the style of the 2003 GT Coupe and California Cruiser concept cars? And revive the Chrysler Airflow-as the JZ49-it would be perfect, but cross with the Airflite concept and don't make it such a lousy disappointment like the Sebring it would be based on.

And that's why they should keep it.

The PT is now an icon, and it would be foolish to eliminate it.

Kind of like if Chrysler said, "well, after this generation, no more minivans" "Huh?" would probably be the reaction, along with "Why?"

The Crossfire on the other hand was just an exercise brought to life very attractively, but I don't care if something like that goes away forever. It was outdated from the start, and should have been based on the NEW SLK's mechanicals.

Come on Chrysler, would you really walk away from another segment you basically introduced?

*Pacifica...crossovers...*

If you want one, buy it by 2009.

I find it hard to believe they're replacing it with nothing. I figured an 08 build on the Caliber platform as an 09 was its future...

they're selling 150k Worldwide. Why give up the sales?.

If you're going to produce B class vehicles in China, you can afford to build a PT in the 1st World.

There is a 2010 vehicle to replace the PT in the lineup. It is unknown to me if it will be the NG PT or something else.
