Happy Boxing Day to all of my fellow Canadians!

$h!, why be so limited, I've been told I've "got a thing for the Maple Leaf country" by a friend from WA state, so Happy Boxing Day to you too!

Doesn't boxing day refer to a physical box, not the "sport"?

Something to that extent. Last I checked, it was created during one of the world wars to send gifts (hence 'boxing') to the troops.

It seems to only be a Commonwealth thing, but it's how retailers unload older stock and have huge price reductions.

However, I've seen people argue over who gets the last LCD TV in the store and fight about it, so it might have something to do with the sport of 'boxing' as well.

Oh, I thought it had something to do with giving your postman a gift. I wonder where I got that idear from.

No wonder I had no idea what this boxing thing was about.

My curiousity finally got the better of me, and I had to come find out.
