I was wondering if anybody knew why the GMC Sierra is priced higher than a compliably equipped Chevy Silverado. Based on MSRG's listed from both websites, the base price for a Chevy Silverado 1LT, 2WD extended cab is $26,860.

A Sierra SLE1 3SA, 2WD extended cab lists for $27,455. Unless I am overlooking something, both trucks have the identical features and options.

Another price difference is on the Max Trailering Package. Chevy list price is $1,685 and GMC's is $2,265. Both packages are identical.

Personally, I prefer the looks of the GMC over the Chevy. I was leaning towards purchasing the Sierra, but Chevy appears to be a better bargain. I will have to admit that the Chevy does look a lot better in person than the first pictures posted here months ago.

How does GMC justify charging more for the same truck?

Thanks.

GMCs are generally a few hundred more than their Chevy counterparts, though that option costing that much more is odd. If you like the Sierra better you will probably be able to get the dealer to come down to a price close to that of the Silverado if you try.
