I don't know if this has been mentioned lately, but I was at my local Chevy dealer this morning and I noticed that all the 2006 models were wearing the GM badge. Are these going to be on everything or only a select few? I know that some Chrysler products wear a small Pentastar on the passenger front door area, but never knew why for that either...

because there are people out there that don't know that Saab, Hummer and Saturn are GM products.

I think it is just a little ugly, btw I didn't notice it on the Tahoe!

It looks very busy when it's near other badges. They should have put it on the rears of vehicles where it would really be seen by those from behind while at stoplights.

good point about it looking busy when the GM badge is near other badges, but I would haver prefered if they put it lower on the body, in front of the rear wheel wells (like on the Corvette)

I like the ide of the badges, love it as a matter of fact.... it's the placement of them that seems pretty dumb in some instances. I'd be the first one ot say we need to be more proud of our Products. It's the MARK OF EXCELLENCE after all.

They are there so when you get close you can see that they are a GM <tm> product and not a Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, etc.. :)

You know, it used to be you could tell a vehicle was a GM by looking at it. I'm glad I don't have some geeky little badge on my car. It is what it is and doesn't need a half-inch square to tell anyone.

*chuckles devilishly*

At least they didn't put 'em as stand-up hood ornaments ;).

Seriously, though, some of the ones I've seen have left me wondering why they put 'em where they did ... but, I'm not sure where a good place to put 'em would be.....

Yeah, the placement on the Solstice seems odd to me...low on the doors...or the Corvette (low in front of the rear wheel). Edited by moltar

If I were getting a new GM vehicle, I would strip that little badge off immediately.

As if I would want the world to know that I drove a vehicle from a manufacturer whose acronym of GM has the potential to be misinterpreted as: "General Mediocrity".

I think any previous import buyer that would be considering a GM vehicle might be frightened off by that little badge. Besides, why paste more junk onto the car when it isn't neccesary? All Buick/Cadillac/Chevrolet/GMC/Oldsmobile dealerships I've seen have GM as a part of their signs out front. I don't know about HUMMER/SAAB/Opel/Holden/Vauxhall/Saturn dealerships, I've never seen any of those.
Shouldn't that be enough for the idiots that run around buying cars?
If they don't notice things like that, who knows what they don't notice while driving out on the streets?!

Also, as a question, the seat belt release buttons seem to be the same in every single new car today-orange and cheap looking. Is this some sort of federal regulation, or what? GM vehicles from the 1980's (like my Buick Skyhawk) had the GM badge on that seat belt release button. Having a button that looks the same in every single vehicle in the U.S. from the Kia Rio to a Mercedes-Benz S-Class makes the interiors of pricier cars look very cheap with that glaring orange button facing up like that.
Like many other things, if you can't figure out how to unbuckle your seat belt without the button possessing some glaring, screaming colour, you shouldn't be driving!!!

They look "lost" on most vehicles.

I wish they would have used a emblem like the GM design emblem. It looks much like the Pinifarina emblems. The design emblems are only on show cars.

They should have put it on the floor boards of the doors when people get in like back in the days when the GM bodies were labeled "Body by Fisher"! ^_^

I wouldn't dream of being ashamed to have a GM badge on my car.

they come off...

but I think they are a great Idea, trys to promote people who think maybe Pontiac, or Buick is a good company and perhaps not realizing that those are also the same cars that make Chevrolet, Cadillac, or Saturn, Hummer, Saab.... these are great I think for the public to realize GM makes all of these, I mean back in the day GM used to have it on every seat belt I remember, I asked my grandpa "Why does this seat belt say GM on it? isnt this a Oldsmobile? So why does it use GM parts if it is an Oldsmobile?" When I was about 7 I asked him that on his olds, but the car was cool
