You get it, you post the next set of lyrics. Song title and Band/artist (album and songwriter(s) if you know them)

Here's mine:

Well I been drinkin' again

And I know it's a sin

But I just can't refuse an old friend

Cause life is gettin' me down

And I been two times around

And there ain't nothing but pain around the bend

I'm not made for the time

I'm born in the wrong century

There's too much craziness here

In twenty-five years I have used all the tears in my eyes

Now this old world is a fright

You know my future ain't bright

And I'd just crawl in a hole if I could

Or maybe live out in space

Or some other far away place

And not come back to this earth till it's good

Oh but I'm dreaming again

I know that I'm here till the end

There's too much craziness here

In twenty-five years I have used all the tears in my eyes

Well you might think that I'm all wrong

The things I say in this song

I really wish I could see it your way

Cause there's a storm rollin' in

And it just might be the end

So I'm praying we'll all get away

Now my cup is running dry

The weight of the world gets me down

There's way too much craziness here

In twenty-five years I have used all the tears in my eyes

There's nowhere to turn

So I'll just have to learn not to cry, no more

It's all I can do till we find something new

But I'll get by you know I'll try

In twenty-five years I have used all the tears in my eyes.

Drinking Again

Hey you should make it an "association" just for kicks...

I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine

On a cloud of sound I drift in the night

Any place it goes is right

Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here

Well, you don't know what we can find

Why don't you come with me little girl

On a magic carpet ride

You don't know what we can see

Why don't you tell your dreams to me

Fantasy will set you free

Close your eyes girl

Look inside girl

Let the sound take you away

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp

And so I wished that I could stay

Before the thing could answer me

Well, someone came and took the lamp away

I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found

Well, you don't know what we can find

Why don't you come with me little girl

On a magic carpet ride

Well, you don't know what we can see

Why don't you tell your dreams to me

Fantasy will set you free

Kansas - Masque - "Two Cents Worth" Livgren/Walsh

you'd a had me two months ago, I recogonized most of it but couldnt place it until I heard the singers voice in my head. It would have never come to me and drove me crazy had I not just purchased Masque .... again just recently

same era, very obscure progressive band

When the summers night has changed its warmer breezes

to the icy cold of silent winter freezes

will you be there ?

When the flowers in the windows of the neighbors

start to bow their frozen heads and to leave us

will I see you there?

Will you stand by me against the cold night

or are you afraid of the ice ?

When the waters of the roaring ocean bring a chilling

feeling and the beaches closing

are you near me ?

When the cloudy skies are blocking out the sun

and suddenly your nose has begun to run

do you still hear me ?

Will you stand by me against the cold night

or are you afraid of the ice ?

Remember when you were young

(Heh heh) You shone like the sun

(Title line omitted)

Now there's a look in your eyes

Like back holes in the sky

(Title Line omitted)

You were caught in the crossfire

Of childhood and stardom

Blown on the steel breeze

Come on you target for faraway laughter

Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr...

You reached for the secret to soon

You cried for the moon

(Title line omitted)

Threatened by shadows at night

And exposed in the light

(Title line omitted)

Well you wore out your welcome

With random precision

Blown on the steel breeze

Come on you raver, you seer of visions

Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner...

Nobody knows where you are

How near or how far

(Title line omitted)

Pile on many more layers

And I'll be joining you there

(Title line omitted)

And we'll bask in the shadow

Of yesterday's triumph

Sail on the steel breeze

Come on you boy-child, You winner and loser

Come on you miner for truth and delusion...

OK here's another challenge (because I don't have time to type all of the lyrics) :duh:

First 2 lines:

"Take a little dope and walk out in the air. The stars are all connected to the brain"

Posted (edited)

Camino - you dog ! You know of Crack the Sky .........cool ! They fell on their face after Safety anyhow.

albums

1.Crack the Sky '75 - this is the one with Ice - Rolling Stones album of the year in 75

2.Animal Notes '76

3.Safety in in Numbers '78

This is gonna be hard, I rarely pay close attention to lyrics, Shine on you Crazy Diamond had me stumped, I recogonized it but couldnt connect. :(

So Im gonna need much more on this new one.

Yeah, I realized I was wrong on the album for "Ice" when I thought about it later.

If you Like CTS I recommend "From The Greenhouse" it is a great album much in the same vein as Animal Notes/Safety In Numbers. I lost my CD somewhere and I miss it alot.

OK, I'll give you some more of my last one now along with a hint. This song is by a very famous English band known for its volume. The song itself is a bit obscure(which is a hint all by itself).

Take a little dope

and walk out in the air

the stars are all connected to the brain

Find me a woman and lay down on the ground

Her pleasure comes falling down like rain

Get myself a car

feel power as I drive

Oh now I'm really in control

English Band? Volume?

The Who! And thanks to my brother, the song is "Naked Eye" I could Google the song for the album, but that's unfair. So the other music buffs can try for the album.

Shiny diamonds Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue

Something is coming for you

Race for the morning You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light

Oh we will pray it's all right

Gotta get away-get away

Between the velvet lies

There's a truth that's hard as steel

The vision never dies

Life's a never ending wheel

Good lyrics Caprice but I have no clue, so Ill guess.........Rush........

Camino - was never big on the Who, a handful of songs but thats it. Strange I know but for some reason I was not.........I think that reason was Zeppelin...I always went to the heavier side.

I have From the Green House on tape

also

Dogcity and Raw

Green House was very Floydish, Dogcity a bit too but the production on Dog City was not real good. Raw has this song "Elvis was my Daddy" its a gotta hear.

Ronnie James DIO - Holy Diver

:metal:

my turn...

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself

between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,

I feel it move across my skin.

I'm reaching up and reaching out,

I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.

And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Ok, this one's easier:

How's it going to go down?

Will you meet him on "the Main Line"? Or will you catch him on the rebound?

Will you marry for the money...take a lover in the afternoon?

Feel your innocence slipping away...don't believe it's coming back soon...

And you really don't remember...was it something that he said....

....all those voices in your head...

calling.............................REFRAIN

WRONG

It's "Gloria" - remember? "will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon."

Ok, now that I've polluted Camino's thread with the "D" word, let's move on!

Do you think it's coming soon

Will it be of comfort

or the pain of a burning wound

Tool - "Lateralus" (from the 2001 release Lateralus) Lyrics by: Maynard James Keenan, music by: Adam Jones (guitar), Justin Chancellor (bass), Danny Carey (drums)

:metal:8)

If anyone wants to guess the following, well, here . . .

"Into a strange new world, into the after

All your tears might find you've fallen too far

Take another look, take another ride

Can't we make them leave the hate behind

And I still believe in nothing

Will we ever see the shape of tomorrow?

Into the empty storm, into the formless loss of hope,

Where we can forget the game

And I still believe in nothing

Will we ever see the cure for our sorrow

Nothing is sacred when no one is saved

Nothing's forever so count your days

Nothing is final and no one is real

Pray for tomorrow and find you're empty still

Nothing"

MOODY BLUES!!!!!!!!!!11111!!!

"You and Me"

My dad has a bunch of their CD's and whenever I had to travel, they were always on repeat, so their music is pretty ingrained in my head.

However, my dad prefers their blues oriented music, the stuff before they became prog, and he's not Seventh Sojourn's biggest fan.

Edit: So your dad's into Go Now ? That's their only really bluesy album (and their first release).

That's the first one he heard and he had it, but it has been lost for years. He isn't sure if it even made it to this continent. Apparently, for all he knows, it could be in Morocco, (he's been :AH-HA_wink: )

He does have a boxed set that has their real classics like Nights in White Satin. He also has a "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" cassette that is almost worn out. He has others, but they are in boxes somewhere in the attic.

Every Good Boy is one of the few I don't have, and my Seventh Sojourn is MIA.

Heres one I took to along time ago, recited it for some English project. pre-rap rap from one of the origionals

Down the street you can hear her scream

"you're a disgrace"

as she slams the door in his drunken face'

and now he stands outside and all the

neighbors start to gossip and... drool

He cries "oh girl, you must be mad.

what happened to the sweet love

you and me had ?"

against the door he leans and starts a scene,

his tears fall and burn the garden green

and so castles made of sand, fall into the sea

eventually

A little Indian brave

who before he was ten

played war games in the woods

with his Indian friends

and he built a dream that when he up

he would be a fearless warrior, Indian Chief

many moons passed and more the dreams grew

strong, until tomorrow

he would sing his first war song

and fight his first battle, but something went wrong

surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

and so castles made of sand, melts into the sea

eventually

there was a young girl, whose heart was a frown

because she was crippled for life

and couldnt speak a sound

and she wished and prayed she could stop living

so she decided to die

she drew her wheelchair to the shore

and to her legs she smiled

"you wont hurt me no more"

but then a sight she'd never

made her jump and say

"look a golden winged ship is passing my way"

...and it really didnt have to stop...

...it just kept on going...

and so castles made of sand slips into the sea

eventually

It's also on Epitaph (1997), too. Three times, as a matter of fact. Twice on disc one, once on disc two (different versions, live, radio sessions, etc.). They've released that particular song a few times. It even had it's own EP in 1996.
