Superbird Returns !

Plymouth's coming back ! Well, not entirely. DC is coming out with a one time special edition. It will be called the Chrylser Plymouth SuperBird, and it will be a special 40th Anniversary Edition commermorating the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, slated for the 2010 model year. Not surprising, the folks at DC were rather tight-lipped when questioned about the coming bird, Dr Z., in fact, seemed to lose that jovial nature he exudes in TV Commercials. In response to our questions, he looked at his watch, took us for a ride in the crash test car, and snapped, "Next time, no airbag. Any more questions ? Auf Wiedersehen."

But pictures speak louder than words. We paid noted auto spy photographer, Jim Well Done, big bucks to sneak into DC Arizona proving grounds to snap this photo.

As you can see, the prototype bird is pretty well developed at this early stage. The final color, though, will be Petty Blue. Stay tuned for updates, as you'll see them here first."

You're twisting my foot. And you'd better quit, because it really hurts.

You either bring back Plymouth as its own brand for a cheap source of high-power products (de-contented Dodge SRTs with new sheetmetal and interiors, anyone?) or leave it dead. There's no other option, even if this is a load of $h!.

I'd prefer a really cool, archives-sourced, never-seen-before, chronological history of the complete developmental & racing history of the Daytona/Superbird, rather than this.

It's as real as the "2005 Camaro", and the "2007 40th anniversery Camaro' posted here years back.

Some think Plymouth made only 'low priced power/muscle cars'. But back in the day most of them were slant 6 powered Valients, 318 2 barrel carbed Fury sedans/wagons, and in the 80's/90s, minvans!

I wouldn't mind seeing Plymouth come back (my favorite brand of ChryCo), but I hope this "spy" image is just a really bad photochop. I'd rather see them bring back a cheap, powerful bare-bones Fury or 'Cuda before some gussied up 300 coupe with a wing and nose.

I could swear I have seen that before...

Seems like a hoax to me...

And since there's no Plymouth around, how are they going to go about that? Will it be a Chrysler Superbird? A Dodge Superbird? Or just "Superbird"

Oh well... Even if this proves true, I think any purist worth his salt would wait until the Challenger debuts, because that'd be the better vehicle IMO.
