Spied: Jeep Scrambler Concept/AEV Brute

According to Eric Ridenour, the Jeep Gladiator was axed because it required its own unique platform. A production Jeep truck, if approved, would have to be based on an existing body-on-frame architecture, which brings us to the Wrangler pickup prototype we spotted in Detroit, as it was being transported between two off-site facilities for final assembly work. A Wrangler pickup has been rumored for quite some time, with the name Scrambler mentioned.

That's a brilliant idea to build a Jeep pickup. It'll help it compete with Hummer and give DCX a compact pickup again. Plus it looks retro cool, and like a Jeep should. I can easily see this selling. Ditch the stupid Compass and build this!

The concept is ok, but the execution sucks. I wish they would make it look modern like the regular Wrangler or the H3T. Other than the front end it looks like an old truck.

AEV has been converting standard jeep into some serious offroad vehicle for a few years now. . im sure the have a new Wrangler in the shop right now.

Great idea!

I hope that Hummer does the same thing but a real compact truck that is off-road tested.

GM needs a real compact pick up because the Colorado twins sucks butt!

:drool::drool: Me likey a lot. Of course I'd have to have it based on the new 2007 Wrangler though.

Deep down inside I've always wanted a Jeep Wrangler... if Daimler-Chrysler produces this pickup version, I don't know guys - I'd be very tempted! I only wish GM would hurry up and make the H3T, just like it was in concept form. Then I could say "Jeep Wrangler-pickup who"???

But I think that Wrangler-based pickup is pretty cool nonetheless. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the Gladiator concept-pickup was based on the new-for-2007 Wrangler???

that is the old chassis for sure.... the new one is much wider and more road friendly. I think this isnt a prototype but more of a toy that was built.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

they'll find a way to mess this up.

SCRAMBLER? they are insane.

Scrambler was the name of the CJ-7 based pickup in the 70's and 80's. I think it is a great idea just so long as they make it off-road capable.

So this is a Comanche comeback of sorts, but this time as a BOF model.
