GMC Announces Pricing For 2007 Acadia

All-New GMC Acadia Offers Generous List of Standard Equipment in a Package Priced Under $30,000

DETROIT - GMC announced today that pricing for GMC's first crossover SUV, the all-new 2007 Acadia, will begin at $29,990 for a well-equipped front-wheel-drive model.

"The next generation of GMC is here with the all-new Acadia," said John Larson, GMC general manager. "The fuel-efficient crossover has a sleek design and spacious interior that offers all of the people and cargo-carrying capabilities that you would expect in a utility vehicle, along with the smooth ride and responsive handling that feels more like a luxury sedan."

Acadia, which goes on sale at the end of the year, is available in front- or all-wheel-drive models. The base FWD model pricing includes the destination freight charge, is well-equipped, with GM's all-new high-feature 3.6L V-6 engine with variable valve timing. It offers 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 251 lb.-ft. of torque (340 Nm) and EPA ratings of 18 mpg city / 26 mpg highway on FWD models. The engine is backed by a new, fuel-saving Hydra-Matic 6T75 six-speed automatic transmission.

The Acadia comfortably seats up to eight adults and has a standard 60/40 split-folding third-row seat. It offers more space than many of its competitors, with nearly 20 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row.

Other standard features on the GMC Acadia include:

-StabiliTrak stability control system with rollover mitigation technology

-Six air bags - two frontal-impact air bags, two seat-mounted side-impact air bags; and head curtain side-impact air bags that help protect outboard passengers in all three rows

-Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes

-OnStar Generation 7 hardware with one-year Directions and Connections service that features new voice-activated Turn-by-Turn Navigation

-GM's exclusive Smart Slide feature on second-row seating, allowing quick and easy access to the third row

-AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 players and six-speaker audio system

-Dual exhaust with chrome tips

-Rear spoiler

-18-inch wheels

Also standard on Acadia and new for 2007 is GM's five-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is fully transferable and includes courtesy transportation and roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty. Customers can get a preview of the new Acadia at www.gmc.com.

Hm I was thinking about 27k too for the Acadia, 30k seems like its eating in the Enclave sorta. Granted I fully expect the base Enclave to be at least 32-35k so maybe it's not too bad. I like how the Acadia gets the same gas mileage as the Torrent and Equinox despite its engine size and output. If the gas mileage for the Torrent wasn't so bad, I would actually recommend one of those things as I like everything else about it.

That's an interesting point, big_blue. I bet when the Torrent gets the 3.6/6-speed it gets better mileage, even though it will have 90 more HP than the base model

The MKX starts at $35k and unless the Enclave is going to have less standard equipment than it (which I doubt), then I'm guessing it will start around that same price. It's better in every way, so I think the MKX is basically dead before it even gets out there.

$29,990 isn't bad... Honda charges the same for a comparable Pilot. And it's $6K less than a Yukon, which the Acadia beats in every possible way, apart from towing or off-roading.

The price if fine with me for what you get. What suprises me id the gas mileage. GM originally stated that the mileage on the FWD was 17 city 25 hwy. Now it's 18 city 26 hwy. That's amazing for something as big as this is.

The Torrent and Equinox did get their mileage improved this year to 19 city and 26 hwy.

So what...no pricing on the other three (SLE AWD, SLT FWD and SLT AWD) models? Its a little pricey, but its much bigger than that faux Third World box, the Pilot. Jack up the color selection-add Black (how could a vehicle NOT have black??!!), ditch the Navy Blue, add the nLight Quartz, and a standard red that's not the Maroon one (aka Cranberry Red Metallic). Looks decent and appealing for a car that never should even have been discussed for GMC, unlike the smaller and absolutely appalling-in-all-ways Jeep Compass and Patriot.

I think we'll have to see what you get for that $30k. Then we can compare apples to apples. Perhaps once you up option the Honda it might push north of the base Acadia price. I know the wheels aren't comparable on the two, plus the Honda is smaller. Honda has less horsepower and one speed less on its tranny. Plus, GM has the longer warranty now, too. I wish they'd put 4 years across the board and 5 on Buicks and Caddies, though.

Compare the Acadia SLE to the Pilot EX. Its a more comperable setup in terms of features and pricing and I'd still put the Acadia out ahead due to more power, better transmission, and better interior. Plus, you can't get a V8 in the Pilot next year. *ahem*

I don't know why anyone gets the LX. Four speakers? What a pile. Who buys that junk?

I don't think the price is too high. Did I want it to be lower? Sure I did. But in all honesty, this isn't a competitor for a V6 Rav4 (which can be well above the $25-26,000 mark itself). The Acadia is a much larger, premium vehicle.

Especially with the equipment it offers standard...it should start in price beyond where the smaller crossovers top out (meaning the Rav4, Saturn Vue, etc).

What is going on with GM's pricing lately. The Solstice is and the Sky are both $2,000 base more than last year and they have not added any new options. Now the Acadia is going to be $30,000?

When is the Acadia going to hit the auto shows? The GMC web site has it at the texas state fair and a bunch of other auto show that are out but I haven't seen any real life pic. They should be out @ dec. We priced some at the dealership and they top out @ $40k. They are right in line with the old envoy xl

They screwed up the pricing big time. I priced my own, and to get leather, I had to spring for the $35,960 SLT. Friggin' power seats and one-touch windows are part of a $2,145 package and cannot be ordered a la carte. Moonroof costs $1,300.

At that price, I think most would spring for the MDX or save $6K and get a Pilot EX-L 4WD (standard leather, power seats, one-touch windows, moonroof).

GMC should seriously consider offering leather on SLE models and make power seats and one-touch windows standard. Even the Freestyle has that.

People forget that this is a full-size vehicle. the Mazda CX-9 is similarly priced.
