End Game

[Camino LS6]

My dad is slipping away minute by minute and taking care of him becomes a bit more difficult each day. My family is on constant call and we have been taking turns dealing with the off-hour care that he needs. It's a truly draining experience and all of us are tired - most of all my dad. The hardest part is how much more difficult it is to communicate with him now and to understand him on the rare occassions when he speaks. He is less present all the time and aware only in a vague way. The experience is even more overwhelming than I had ever thought it would be.

This may sound stupid, but I'm not really looking for sympathy with this post. It's more the need to just "put it out there" that motivates me to write this all out .

So, I have a request.

Please don't comment on this, I know it is hard to resist offering support so if you want to just post a blank acknowlegement - that will be enough.

Words fail sometimes, and just knowing that others are there is somehow better.

Hey Camino, I understand where you're coming from. It was the same way with my Grandmother for a while before she passed in '90. I know you're not looking for any sympathy, but I really do know what kinda boat you're in right now.
