We all know all or almost all the GMT900s will get the new 6-speed autos. Everyone says 2008, they need to build up inventory. Do we know for a fact this is the plan. Is is safe to say that all or almost all GMT900s will get them in 2008 or will it be select like it was for 2007, maybe limited to LTs or SLTs, or to the 5.3 but not the 4.8? The GMT355s are another story. They need them too, but I won't go into that. I think this is the only thing "lacking" with the GM trucks. It's public perception not to mention help mileage a little and improve their quickness. If anyone has some insight of what the plan is, it would be greatly appreciated.

Transmissions Hydra-Matic 6L90

Gear ratios (:1)

First: 4.027

Second: 2.364

Third: 1.522

Fourth: 1.152

Fifth: 0.852

Sixth: 0.667

Reverse: 3.064

Transmissions Hydra-Matic 4L60-E

Gear ratios (:1)

First: 3.06

Second: 1.63

Third: 1.00

Fourth: 0.70

Reverse: 2.29

Final drive ratio: 3.42:1

Yes, but even that has it's advantages, like when third is too low but fourth is too high. And closer first and second gears help with acceleration; with the 4L60, revs drop to 2900 rpm (200 hp with the 6.0L Vortec) after shifting to second from redline. With the 6L90, revs drop to 3500 rpm, or 250 hp, which means the engine stays at its powerband more of the time.

torque is part of the powerband scenerio too, especially considering very few people have been seen red lining their vehicals.. I would imagine I use little more than 50 ponys or so, except on hills when I prolly use 100.. I just cant imagine runing around at 3500 RPMs all the time.
