Spied: 2008 Hummer H3 SUT

Posted Image

This prototype is a lot more than an H3 with its rear cargo bay hacked open. It looks as if this prototype has a longer wheelbase (and is therefore longer overall) than a normal H3. Where the rear wheel well cuts into the rear door opening on today's H3 SUV, the rear doors on this H3 SUT prototype have no such intrusion. The rear wheels have been pushed farther toward the rear, allowing the rear door cutline to drop straight down to the frame rail. It appears that the extra length has been added to make the truck bed a more useful size.

Gotta like that hunch! I think it will look much better without the covering over the bed area though, I do admit right now that it looks really out of proportion, hopefully the finished product won't look that way. The taillights also look a lot like those off of the Colorado/Canyon, does anybody else think that? I always wanted an H2 SUT, but it is too pricey, maybe the H3 SUT will be more around my price range, but wow, the new Silverado LTZ Crew Cab with the 6.0 Vortec is bad bad bad! 8)

Check this out, it is almost perfect, except it doesn't have the VortecMax...

back when the H3 came out, had a friend within the organization that told me this was in the works. the general is moving a little slow on it though.

on another note, i looked at the '07 H3 on the GM site and did not see mention of the 3.7 I5. any ideas?

If GM could just significantly raise the fuel mileage of the Hummer, I think they could sell every configuation they could think of. People around here love the H3.

Ehh, the H3T was way cooler. This looks like it has ungainly proportions.

I don't like this variation either, but its too soon to tell from this what exactly the final product will look like.

Thats gorgeous!

It definitely has been extended, but hopefully it won't look too bad, hopefully just like a crew cab Colorado/Canyon. In order to put a usable bed on the back they had to extend it.

Good question ZL-1...and if this IS one of the new models, what will the others be?  Anybody have any inside info on this one?  Come on...I know one of you knows! :CG_all:

Aint the H2 due for a change, most propable moving to GMT900? I guess that would be on of them.

Yep and word has it that Hummer was shopping the idea of a GMT900 pickup, maybe like the SUT but maybe an HD truck, that would certainly fit the Hummer image.

A GMT900 HUMMER Pickup truck would be great! It would be nice to have a full size crew cab with a bigger more usable bed in the HUMMER lineup, especially after the death of the H1 Wagon and Open Top  I would have never bought one, but now HUMMER will have an H2 and H3, but no H1??? :nono:

The H1 just wasn't practical for civilian use, and just became a joke. Even the Terminator (ArnySchwarz for those of you less pop culture inclined) has thinned out his HUMMER models, down to two... one of them being the Hydrogen model.

I'll also say once again that HUMMER could use a GMT-900 truck. Throw in the Duramax, give it the capability and the looks and GM will have a nice addition to the line.

However this thing looks kinda of strange, but I'm sure it'll look great when the camo is off. Still, I'd love to see the two-door model go into production... that one was bad-ass.

No updates on this vehicle? I was expecting to see it at the NYIAS, but alas it's not there. Anyone know what's going on with this project?

You're a year too early.
