Okay, I believe it now. Its clear where the boost comes from - economical vehicles and the RAV4. Camry sales are stangnant, but can they really go any higher? Methinks not.

There are some great deals on the Tundra. I saw advertising for $5500 off. If the new one wasn't coming and they weren't trying to clear out inventory, I don't think it'd be so high.

Total "Toyota" is 1.928mil for the year, which puts it ahead of Chevy and Ford, but 138k of that is Scion, so really Toyota is not quite at Chevy and Ford's sales, but very close. Just thought I'd point out that when the "sales champ" is announced that Toyota's releases may say they have a higher volume, but it's artificially inflated by Scion's numbers.

Toyota incentives are high....around here 0% along with rebates were the norm on most of thier cars, except Rav4 and Camry, I beleive. Sienna had cash back of $2500 from the factory. Toyota is incetivizing their cars rather high these days, don't know if that's a recent trend or something that has been going on for a while. Thier resale value seems to already be sufferring because of it, the more cars they put in the used car market, the more saturation will occur, resale is bound to hurt. They also fleet a pretty nice portion of those Camry sales, around 30k or so, of course that's nothing compared to what GM does, but Honda has like 2k Accords for the year that have been fleeted. Toyota is really all about the volume these days.

I see toyota gave away 12,000 tundra's. I think they are glad to take all the fleet sales that GM didn't want.

toyota hardly mentioned the tundra all year due to the fact that sales were down pretty much every month, but once they are able to con 12000 suckers into buying them, they are making headlines again.

Toyota combines low apr and cash rebates so they can lose money.

That's how they lost $4billion last quarter.

Sienna had cash back of $2500 from the factory.

I don't know where you live but it's $1000 rebate in Houston.

Toyota is really all about the volume these days.

Volume is key to Toyota's plan of increasing profit margins from 8.9% to 10%.

Ok, if I did my math right, Toyota's sales actually fell during Sept. vs August '06. They had 240,178 for Aug. and 222,950 for Sept. That's actually a 7% drop in sales vs last month.... right? So Toyota must have had a bad month in Sept. '05?

I just saw a Toyota Sienna commercial (not local dealer) with $1,000 cash back last night. The Tundra had to have had some big incentives, too. I know Toyta used to have incentive information on its website but after a quick search I couldn't find it.

GM's still hasn't upgraded from 4spd trannies in many models, if GM doesn't develop the flexibility to compete soon they will knocked right over.

Which will do nothing to sales.

Honda had a 240 hp minivan five years ago. Toyota's new 270 hp 3.5 will now take over as class leader.

Cause Toyota's transmissions work so great and people do not complain.
