Posted Image

October 3, 2006 -- CYPRESS, Calif. -- Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) today reported September sales of 10,287 units, an increase of 13.6% over last September's total of 9,054.

MMNA's sales have shown consistent growth over the past six months, the first six months of the business year. Sales for the April-September period are up 4.5% over the same period in 2005. July-September period sales were also up 4.5% over the same quarter in 2005.

September marked the seventh consecutive month that Mitsubishi U.S. sales topped the 10,000 mark and the third consecutive month of year-over-year increases.

MMNA President & CEO Hiroshi Harunari said, "Sales increases month-after-month are a true indicator that customers are confident in the quality of our products and their styling, performance, and value. We expect our sales to accelerate further with the introduction of our all-new fuel-efficient Outlander crossover SUV in November."

September sales highlights:

*Eclipse continues to be the volume leader at 2,485, up 42.0% calendar year-to-date.

*Lancer closed at 2,169 units in September, up 50.1% from last September's volume.

*Eclipse Spyder September sales were 607 units, up 209.7% from last year's volume.

Its funny because you have to file FOIA papers to find any real tangible Mitsubishi sales figures. They never mention the Raider or Endevour anymore, they boast about some CUV they're releasing two months from now, and they keep referencing ambiguous milestones like, "Lancer sales up 48% over September 19th, 2005" or "Eclipse up 80% over last September's Tuesdays."

Also, month to month this year, Mitsubishi's sales are plateaued, showing deflections of several hundred units (if that) either way. But, instead of 'stagnant,' they spin it as 'consistant,' i.e. "Despite the new Eclipse and revamps in models over the past few years, Mitsubishi is a consistant loser in the sales field."

I just wonder how much longer this is going to tread water. Galant was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Then, the Eclipse was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Now the Outlander is? Doubtful

FOIA? nice brian Form G-639 something from my evil line of work.I am working on one right now or i am supposed to be instead i'm stuck on c&g. i hate law!but really mitsu is in trouble, every vehicle they have released recently has flopped IMO it's a lot easier to have your sales figures increase by 80% when you sell 10 cars thats a whopping 8 more cars lol .i think they're done.

13% increase. hmmm. what's the problem there? didn't GM lose sales?

How many cars does SAAB sell? let's kill them.

get over it. they are around to stay, in small form, but here nonetheless.

The jokes are tired and old. Move on.

I like their statement that the Eclipse is the volume leader at 2485 units. That line alone shows how pathetic Mitsu is doing. That would project out to less than 30K for their best selling model. In the late 90's & early 2000's when credit was flowing Eclipse was a constant for 60 - 70K year in and out.
