A few pictured from the Barrie autoshow in Ontario. Taken by polish_kris.

Best in class interior. Period. Fit and finish is outstanding. Attention to detail...amazing. Fully loaded model shown here tops out at around $20,000 Canadian! Check out those color-keyed HVAC knobs!

I like the G3 better. I don't care for the interior in this one as much...and while color-keyed knobs are a good detail...they look ugly in this application IMO.

If you ask me, the color-keyed knobs look cheap. Otherwise, the interior is class leading.

Very, very handsome for such a cheap car. I'd take it anyday over the Yaris based on comfort (sat in both), styling, price, and - most importantly - gauge location.

The Yaris interior is downright anorexic, especially the center stack. The HVAC layout is disgusting. I could wipe my ass on a piece of paper and have an interior design one-hundred percent better than Toyota's.

The Yaris interior likely appeals to people who want to be "different" or have "personality" ...

The Aveo interior is practically laid out, pleasing enough to look at and is functional, and that's how it should be.

Very nice I saw one at our auto show early this year and it looked very classy. I have seen just one on the road and it looked very good. Oh and everyone rips german car design because they were the best of the last few decades.

oh god.... people already putting down the car before some have actually laid eyes on it. oh hell, what difference would that make anyway. always something to nitpick no matter what make from gm at a site for the so called gm enthusiasts. oh, some of you guys must be THE AUTHORITY on all gm cars.

yes, let other people who catch this site looking for gm information find how the people within this community diss our own brands. SOME LOYALTY. even if i personally didnt like something about a car, there is always something else positive about it too. why bother being here if theres nothing but complainers that i see and come mostly from the same people.

i'm fed up with this site. cancel my login name to this place.

Then leave? Get over yourself. If you want a site that will praise GM no matter what, you've come to the wrong place. This is for GM's biggest fans and toughest critics--not fanboys.

It's a nice little car.... TOO COME IN FOURTH in all the comparisons after the new Japan Inc trio.

The media has BARELY EVEN COVERED THE AVEO, much less paid it the respect it deserves and I'm sure they won't.

They'll still bitch about the fuel economy or the "bland" styling (as it has been quoted in comparison to the Japan Inc. 3)

I guess in order to have cool styling, you have to either look like a disproportioned WHALE (Yaris) a slightly lowered Scion with TACKED on fascias and body mods (Fit) or grandmas take on the whole situation (Versa)

That yaris interior is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E, yet I'm sure, like the GOD-AWFUL interior in the Ridgeline and new Civic, it is chalked up as "TRENDY" and "NEAT" even with the UNSAFE center mounted gauges.

The outside looks good and so does the interior but the color-keyed HVAC knobs look cheap in this application. I'm not so sure about wood trim (faux or real) in this class of vehicle, either. It looks fairly nice in the Aveo but it screams "trying too hard" for me in regards to the car company and driver. I prefer the Aveo exterior to the Yaris and the Yaris' interior to the Aveo's. I've gotten used to center gauges.

Quit your bitching. This is not a site full of people trying to emulate Honda ricer fanboys who consume desensitizing amounts of the company Kool-Aid.

Someone says that the color-keyed knobs look cheap (two people, one of them being myself) and you go off the deep end. That is just downright stupid.

Every company has it's flaws when it comes to management, product, and so on. No company and it's products are perfect. And enthusiasts and critics alike will point out what they like or don't like -- that much they have in common, I can assure you. And that criticism is usually turned into valuable information for mid-cycle enhancements and the next-generation product.

For example, people at this site found things that they didn't like about the Aura. All in all, it was a rather short list but it was forwarded to GM management and management said they would try to address our issues with the Aura's mid-cycle enhancement. Criticism provides needed feedback to improve and push forward a product to it's absolute best.

You are ignorant not to see that.

Your departure isn't the end of the world. It's just one less fanboy who prevents progress.

Thank you.

Alright kids, enough with all this bickering.

I fail to see why everyone seems to be coming on here lately and just getting mad at other people. Can't we just have some fun and not worry about fighting with harsh words if we don't agree?

*Sigh*

Getting back on topic..

I think the new interior is a much needed improvement over last year's entry. The only thing that really sticks out as yuck on this car is the steering wheel. It reminds me of a kid's toy being all bold and wide like that. The tan color scheme is decent, but the black with aluminum looks better.

Also I prefer the Pontiac Wave's interior as the Pontiac(slowing becoming a signature) chrome rings are more attractive. Now we'll have Pontiac dealers clamoring for a Wave of their own, which I oppose as I really do want Pontiac to become the sport branch of GM. I wish the Aveo at least had the same gauge pods as the Wave, sans chrome rings.

well i like the exterior... and im actually surprised how close i managed to get my sketch based off the spy pics to the actual product...

the interior... much much better than the yaris... id say class leading yes... but amazing? no... it needs some work... a few refining tweaks... then... the media wont be able to ignore it

Well they should work on the powerplant, other than that a very nice car. BTW is it going to be avilable with a navi? The navi is avilable in some abroad markets.

Checked out the new Aveo in Colon, MI. A very nice car. My main complaint is that the door armrests are rock hard.

Yea, the gauges in the middle is really stupid.

Sorry Officer.  I didn't mean to swirve so much, I'm not drunk I was just leaning over to see how fast i was going.

Spoken by a person who has obviously never driven a car with center mounted gauges.

+1, you don't even have to turn your head at all. They're a little awkward... for like 20 minutes. Then it feels fine. Some people take longer to get used to them than others, though.

I still prefer the normal mount gauges, but it just seems like the anti-center mount comments tend to be overstated, or from people who have not even tried them on a test drive.

just the fact that those cars can be engineered for left or right hand drive with not so much changes leads me to believe that the first inclination is not driver ease.

HUD love it or leave it is the way to go.

this isnt an attempt to one up that. its not an improvement otherwise or in

any other context, in my opinion of course.

Finally drove an `07 Aveo LS sedan in Hillsdale. It's very nice. I'm debating whether or not to get it.

Even with its tall profile and relative boxiness, it was soo much quieter than my Breeze in all regards.

I think the exterior to this car is great. It stands out from the crowd without resorting to ugliness.

The interior is overall nicely done, but I have a few specific comments about it (see? CONSTRUCTIVE criticism):

1. The plastic on the radio faceplate doesn't match the plastic on the immediate U-shaped surrounding piece, as reflected (almost literally) in the photo above. It would look better if those two pieces matched material/texture.

2. Honestly, the center console should extend down a bit more to include the HVAC controls in order to A. Save money on color-keyed knobs, and B. improve the look on Tan/Black interiors. The tan controls look nasty in that photo.

3. While we're on the HVAC controls, I feel that GM needs to standardize control locations. Compared to the Cobalt, the temperature and fan-direction knobs are reversed, yet everything else matches. May as well match the entire layout, so that people won't be confused going from car to car (since this is the entry model, I vote it "Most Likely to be Your Loaner Vehicle In The Event That Your Car Needs to Be in the Shop for Longer Than a Day", and therefore, this discrepancy is more important than it would be with other models).

4. Not putting the steering wheel controls on the wheel spokes seems like an afterthought to me, but since even a lot of luxury companies set their buttons up the same way, I suppose I shouldn't complain.
