Don't know why, but I've always liked the tiny little Schupp building:

Posted Image

The Syndicate Trust building. it's being renovated and converted into lofts. They were halfway through powerwashing the exterior when I took this pic:

The Old Post Office is in the foreground, and the Chemical Building (with the Alexa Lofts banner) is in the background:

Pics from a recent tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery:

The Clydesdale stable. This was built in the late 1880s and was originally the private stables of the Anheuser family:

This is the Bevo bottling plant. Bevo was a non-alchoholic beverage produced by A-B during prohibition. The Bevo mascot is a fox with a stein in one hand and a chicken leg in the other. It's currently used to bottle Busch, Bud and Michelob:

Um....most interesting thing around here is a house falling into a sinkhole.

That house is now gone, the sinkhole filled in and the city wont let anyone build on that site.

But I took a couple pics of buildings down on C-Street this morning.

That old brick building needs restored, instead of patched with concrete blocks, that looks tacky. And... I wonder how long it will take for a "For Sale" sign to be posted in front of the house next door to the sink hole? And who would be dumb enough to buy it?

The bottom building is empty. I'd love to buy it and turn it back into something useful. The "Beeman's Pepsin Gum" ad needs to be restored.

Every other house down here is built on a sinkhole.

Lawrence has its fair share of decrepit old brick mills. Some have been restored to working order, some have been turned into apartment complexes, many others just rot.

I've though of going to take photos but I like owning my camera.

That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Once the sinkhole is grouted/filled, it probably provides a good foundation for a new house. Chances of another one forming at the exact same location are next to one in eleventi billion.

after seeing this thread i went into downtown Anderson today and took a few pics. here are the main two i wanted to post.

P1030455.jpg

that is Mcgee's Irish pub in downtown anderson. Killer lunch from what i am told. kinda ironic there is a city patrol car in the parking lot but thats beside the point. It used to be home to Sullivan Motors Buick and Pontiac. Up the road on main street used to be the Chevrolet dealership, unfortunately it was razed to the ground 2 yrs back to build a Dollar General. whoopie... anyhoo i have lots more pics but i'll post those later.

Munich - BMW Headquarters ...

HighLight Towers II - Two slim, 113- and 126 meter tail towers, connected by three bridges of glass and steel unmistakably take position at Münchner Tor. The façade was designed by technological and ecological aspects in mind an gives the building a smooth, crystalline appearance. The structure looks light and transparent.
